“Tim’s Baseball Card Shop is hands down my favorite card shop in Chicago. My daughter and I have been coming here together for years, and it’s become one of those places we genuinely look forward to visiting every month.
Tim and MJ are local, incredibly knowledgeable, and just great people to talk cards with. We’re strictly baseball card collectors, and their selection is always fantastic, with a great mix of hobby boxes, blasters, and plenty of slabbed cards to dig through. Just as important, the pricing is always fair and I’ve never felt like they’re trying to take advantage of what’s hot at the moment.
There’s also something special about supporting a true neighborhood card shop run by people who know the hobby and care about the people who walk through the door. After years of visits, it still feels like a treat every time my daughter and I walk in. Tim’s is absolutely worth a visit.”

“I used to live nearby & spent many hours in this store. The owners are wonderful! I bought so many collector Barbie’s & a few Gene dolls. I met the designer of the gene doll, Mel Odom at an event at the store, got his autograph. It was such fun! I plan on passing all those Barbie’s down to my 2 granddaughters (ages 16 & 18) when they get a bit older. They have picked which ones they want. I live in cali now & miss shopping at gigis dolls. It’s a great place to shop & I highly recommend it! Wish I lived closer so I could go say hello & get some more dolls! If you love dolls you have to check out their store, you’ll be in heaven!”

“This place has really cool antiquities and coins. Silver and gold. You can hold something in your hand and that has been around for 3,000 years.
They are very fair at their prices both buying and selling. And the people that work there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.”

The selection of materials is truly impressive. Whether you are a beginner starting a new hobby or a professional artist working on serious projects, you can find almost everything here.
There are endless choices of paints, brushes, sketchbooks, canvases, markers, and many other tools for creative work.
I especially enjoyed walking through the aisles and discovering so many different materials for painting, drawing, illustration, mixed media, and craft projects. It’s the kind of place where ideas start forming just by looking around.
What makes this location even more interesting is the building itself.
The store is located in a historic building from 1934 that was designed by the well-known Chicago architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.
This firm also designed major Chicago landmarks such as the Civic Opera Building and the famous Merchandise Mart, so it’s fascinating to see their work in a smaller but very distinctive building like this.
Before becoming an art supply store,
this building was home to the historic Old Heidelberg Restaurant, a well-known German restaurant that operated here for many years.
The character of that era is still visible today in the building’s unique façade.
One of the most charming features is the beautiful glockenspiel clock above the entrance.
Behind the small wooden doors above the clock is a statue of King Gambrinus, a legendary European figure often known as the “king of beer.”
The statue was created in 1934 by Chicago artist Edgar Miller, adding an artistic and cultural layer to the building’s history.
Seeing this detail makes the storefront feel almost like a hidden piece of Chicago history.
As someone who studied painting, visiting this store was especially inspiring.
Having access to so many art materials inside a building that already has such artistic history makes the experience even more meaningful.
If you are in Chicago and working on any creative project, this is definitely a place worth visiting.”

“Very happy I discovered this shop. I have never built models before. 5 months later I am on my 4th model car from this shop. This hobby shop has 100s if not thousands of model cars, tanks, planes, ships, helicopters and more. All at reasonable prices. You can get Tamaiya and other brands of acrylic paint, brushes, and other model supplies all at affordable prices. Janice is always kind and super helpful and patient. I would recommend this shop to experienced and beginner hobbyist looking to get into it. I was never a model builder but now I am an avid enthusiast thanks to Timeless Hobby Shop!”

If your looking for something extremely specific I would call first a few days before so he can set it aside, at times they are busy. And cannot hunt the very rare and obscure. None the less I love the shop but no longer live in the state.”
