What really impressed me was their clear communication throughout the process. Paula kept me informed and took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my car.

“My brother is in town for university, and unfortunately, being 8 hours away from home, his battery on his 2017 Lexus RX350 gave out on him. From a distance, I did some research and initially found a Toyota dealership nearby, but due to past experiences, I’d rather avoid dealerships for repairs or services. After reading through their reviews and learning about their story, I knew right away this was the perfect place for my brother to take his car.
I’m a big believer in supporting smaller, family-owned businesses, especially ones that have been around for a while and built a solid reputation. I sent my brother their info and told him to book an appointment for a battery replacement. He took it in this morning, and they had him in and out with a new battery in just 30 minutes! He called me right after to tell me how great his experience was—friendly service, quick turnaround, and no hassle.
It’s rare to find an auto shop that’s both efficient and genuinely cares about its customers, and from this experience, I can confidently say that Specialized Automotive is one of those places. We've definitely found a reliable shop for my brother to return to if he ever needs anything else.”

“My minivan had a series of engine misfires on a cross country road trip, and fortunately it happened next to this repair shop. I called them up and the staff was friendly, suggested I come right in for a tune-up. They were able to get new spark plugs and ignition coils installed, and I was back on the road within 6 hours. Their price was reasonable for the combination of speed and quality I was looking for and my original mechanic for my van had told me the same thing about it also needing a new gasket for this work on this van. I would definitely recommend this shop and appreciate their employees who went beyond to help me get going, even taking a late lunch to finish putting my auto back together faster.”

“I like B.B. Automotive because not only are the prices reasonable, but the mechanic, Brandon Bradley, is somebody I am satisfied I can trust.
I’ve lived in several different places over the years, and I have dealt with only a few auto shops that I could really trust like this. One shop here in Champaign actually tried to cheat me (he’s no longer in business, so there’s no need to name him), and I once had wheel bearings replaced by a large independent shop in another city, and the new bearings wore out again in less than 20,000 miles. On the other hand, there was a shop where I took my car in for a routine tune-up (back when cars still needed tune-ups), and when I picked it up the mechanic said, “I didn’t replace your spark plugs. They didn’t need it.” I was impressed by that level of honesty, and Brandon did practically the same thing for me a couple of times, telling me that I didn’t need something done that I thought I needed. He could have just taken my money, but he didn't.
(I have absolutely no connection to B.B. Auto other than having my servicing done there. I just really like the work he does.)”

“February 2026- I came in to Champaign from the St. Louis area for a conference. My car was about to die as I rolled into auto zone. They correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad alternator. They recommended Jacqui’s. Hosea answered his phone at 530 on Wednesday night & said he could fix my car while I was in town. He had my car ready the next day. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced! I was extremely pleased & grateful!!”
“Saved me a ton of money by helping me determine that it was time to send a car to the scrap yard. CarX wanted $600 to work on one aspect of my failing car and I wasn't sure if it was worth it because the car had other issues and wasn't worth much. So I took it to Cecil's and asked him to assess it. The guy who helped me discovered that the car wasn't going to survive no matter how much money I spent on it. And here's he kicker: he helped me so much but didn't even want to charge for his services. Even if it only took him 20 minutes, what he did for me was worth so much to my bottom line. It was incredibly kind of him to not ask for anything in return. I'm really sad that I'm moving away because this place would be my go-to shop for everything else I need in the future. They're super honest and helpful!”

“Dude was a pro. He had on those black surgical gloves, too. Complimented my car as well. All in all a good time. Waiting room needs updated though to be honest. Felt like 1998 in that thing. Other than that, cool.
