I used to work at a toy store in the suburbs and that was definitely a good connect. but after moving on from that job i needed a chill place closer to where i live and i was happy to find them on IG. They really take the stress out of shopping for kids because i think most people underestimate how much pressure there is in buying gifts for children 😅”
“I am from California and every summer I come to visit a friend. This place is ALWAYS the highlight of my trip. The owner is a great guy who’s more than happy to stand around and swap stories about nerdy stuff while offering a great choice of toys at prices that are beyond fair. 5 stars, I’ll see you next year during my visit!”
“Nice little spot. Staff is friendly. They have a decent amount of Gunpla, S.H. Figuarts, statues and other figures and blind box stuff.
The best part is they don't wildly over price things like you might expect to see in a spot like this. They're fair.

“We’ve been going to Throwback every time we’re back in Chicago visiting family… they have an incredible collection of vintage toys of all genres but their Star Wars inventory is otherworldly if you are searching out rare and hard-to-find collectibles. “Play Chicago is one of the best toy stores I’ve ever visited. I go there for every holiday, especially Christmas, as well as for my nieces’ and nephew’s birthdays, and they never disappoint. They always have a great selection of fun, unique gifts, so it’s easy to find something special every time.
What I really love is how convenient everything is—they even offer gift wrapping in-store, making it a true one-stop shop. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better.
I highly recommend Play Chicago if you’re looking for amazing toys and a stress-free shopping experience!”

“Making this review partially so I can find the comic store again next time I'm in Chicago land: the tpb selection was pretty good here, I saw some things that surprised me like tpbs of shadowpact and hawkgirl 2006. No guarantee that these will be here when you go, but the point is it's not all the newest stuff (tho I did see the dc Finest imprints and some new tpbs as well) but also got a lot of variety on slightly older stuff that is hard to find at my lcs.”

“I used to live nearby & spent many hours in this store. The owners are wonderful! I bought so many collector Barbie’s & a few Gene dolls. I met the designer of the gene doll, Mel Odom at an event at the store, got his autograph. It was such fun! I plan on passing all those Barbie’s down to my 2 granddaughters (ages 16 & 18) when they get a bit older. They have picked which ones they want. I live in cali now & miss shopping at gigis dolls. It’s a great place to shop & I highly recommend it! Wish I lived closer so I could go say hello & get some more dolls! If you love dolls you have to check out their store, you’ll be in heaven!”
“Love this location every time we visit family near here. I was appreciative of the woman who helped explain the kids’ summer reading program to us and made sure we received our rewards.
My kiddos always practice and perform a short puppet show on the reading stage when we come here with the puppet toys nearby. Mom gets to enjoy a tea and kids get some creative arts time while we’re traveling. Win win.
We bought a pile of books which always helps for a hotel room stay.
