“Come to dice dojo if you truly love your hobby and want the best pulls in the game. Dice Dojo is THE SPOT. I go here for all things D&D, and Pokemon. The staff are some of the kindest, most passionate and respectful individuals I have ever met in the TCG world. The efforts that Anna, Alec, and especially Bill, have done to build community and trust in an often volatile & scalper ridden hobby have made all the difference to players and collectors like me and my friends. I will continue bringing in everyone I know, making my dojo theirs too. Thank you again to Bill specifically!! He's our hero!!!”

“This is my go-to store for any gift giving for kids and buying fun new toys for my own son. Lots of great options for all ages reasonably priced. Nothing in this store is cheap junk you’d find on Amazon.”

“I am from California and every summer I come to visit a friend. This place is ALWAYS the highlight of my trip. The owner is a great guy who’s more than happy to stand around and swap stories about nerdy stuff while offering a great choice of toys at prices that are beyond fair. 5 stars, I’ll see you next year during my visit!”

“Nice little spot. Staff is friendly. They have a decent amount of Gunpla, S.H. Figuarts, statues and other figures and blind box stuff. The best part is they don't wildly over price things like you might expect to see in a spot like this. They're fair. Follow them on their socials because they seem to get new stuff almost every day!”

“I don’t have kids of my own, but i need my niece and her friends to think I’m the cooler than all other adults 🤷🏾♂ Its a mission tbh. I used to work at a toy store in the suburbs and that was definitely a good connect. but after moving on from that job i needed a chill place closer to where i live and i was happy to find them on IG. They really take the stress out of shopping for kids because i think most people underestimate how much pressure there is in buying gifts for children 😅”

“Cute shop with cool retro vibe. A lot of super interesting knick knacks. As far as records go, the vast majority they carry are new releases. Not the widest selections, but thoughtfully curated. Small section for used records and didn't really find anything intriguing.”

“Came here to get some smiskis and they are a certified retailer! At the time they only had 4 series, but thankfully still a couple to choose from. The staff was friendly and the store had so many different toys! And blind boxes for those interested! They even have a cool hangout and chill area!”

“We’ve been going to Throwback every time we’re back in Chicago visiting family… they have an incredible collection of vintage toys of all genres but their Star Wars inventory is otherworldly if you are searching out rare and hard-to-find collectibles. Hats off to the owner, a tried-and-true Chicagoan who is knowledgeable, fair and extremely generous with his time and knowledge of all things vintage toys.”

“Alex welcomed us as soon as we came in. He was so nice! Genuinely excited to share his love for Legos. He heard it was my sons birthday, let him create his own character, and helped us find the Legos we were looking for. We also got checked out by Naomi. She included a free gift since we spent more than a certain amount, which I didnt even know about. Thank you 😊”

“There’s a reason why David has so many five star reviews. I recently started reading-upping my Kenner Star Wars collection and Quake has not only been a treasure trove for finding them, but David has been friendly, personable and engaging from day one. You really can’t ask for better.”

“Play Chicago is one of the best toy stores I’ve ever visited. I go there for every holiday, especially Christmas, as well as for my nieces’ and nephew’s birthdays, and they never disappoint. They always have a great selection of fun, unique gifts, so it’s easy to find something special every time. What I really love is how convenient everything is—they even offer gift wrapping in-store, making it a true one-stop shop. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. I highly recommend Play Chicago if you’re looking for amazing toys and a stress-free shopping experience!”

“I used to live nearby & spent many hours in this store. The owners are wonderful! I bought so many collector Barbie’s & a few Gene dolls. I met the designer of the gene doll, Mel Odom at an event at the store, got his autograph. It was such fun! I plan on passing all those Barbie’s down to my 2 granddaughters (ages 16 & 18) when they get a bit older. They have picked which ones they want. I live in cali now & miss shopping at gigis dolls. It’s a great place to shop & I highly recommend it! Wish I lived closer so I could go say hello & get some more dolls! If you love dolls you have to check out their store, you’ll be in heaven!”

“This is an ideal store for children’s’ toys and games. The products are organized by age, which is nice because shopping for the double-digit month range (~8-18mo) can be a challenge. A lot of options at big box stores aren’t actually safe for that age (and limited options) or thoughtfully designed for early learning and dexterity. I found a pliable silicone block set that stacks and incorporates colors and numbers and is perfect for when the little one is starting to grab everything and is potentially trying out anything and everything for teething purposes ??. I added an actual teething toy that had a fun design and shape. Both were wrapped by kind and helpful staff and both were successful adds to the playpen mix ? and should be easy to reuse for possible future babies or donated etc.”

“Seemed like a really solid neighborhood comic shop.Owner knew his stuff and knew half the people coming through the door by name. Had 3 separate hiccups in my purchase, but felt like a bad coincidence. Not my neighborhood, but bet it'd be cool to be a regular here.”

“As soon as I walked into the store, I was greeted and hit with nostalgia. The owner is really hospitable, chill, and knowledgeable of his inventory and history of collectibles. The store is organized by categories, well displayed, and fairly priced. I picked up out-of-box figures and were in excellent condition. I highly recommend this store!”

“Minus 1 star for store closing! This has to be a rough neighborhood to do business in with fickle yuppies, sky high rents, and a unfriendly business atmosphere provided by the city of Chicago - but they try hard and have a great shop. Too bad the store is closing!”
