“They helped my family and I out when we needed a PC for us. Especially since we're low income and can't afford a high-end PC. This organization is one of the best for helping people out in need. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is facing poverty but needs a computer for their family for school and so forth.”
“Shady Oaks Camp has given people with disabilities a summer of great fun and memories for over 70 years. My parents were members of the Parents Association for many years, my dad was on the board ( I use to go to meeting with him ) . My dad did printing for the camp & association. My brother attended the camp for over 15 years. He enjoyed being at camp and being by his many friends. My brother was also a resident of the permanent home located by the camp. Shady Oaks gives people with disabilities a chance to experience summer fun. Shady Oaks camp was a blessing to our family years ago, and it continues to be a blessing to others.”

“Went for the food pantry. The woman who initially signed us in was NOT friendly at all. I would not put her up from to start someone off here. She was pushy and just quite rude. With that being said, when I was called back the man who signed me into the computer was nice, then a lady took me back to pray with me. If you don't believe in prayer this is not the food pantry for you. Then when I went back to get the food everyone was super nice and helpful. ??”

“My 1st. time taken care of me, and only me. I needed help with a bill, my gas. I worked hard all my youthful day and my adult life, taken care of others, mother, siblings, husband, then kids. Don't mention the dogs. Grandma, and a house. All gone now including my husband, so I had to learn to budget my bills, money, and time. 'Ceda to the rescue.' They took care of and continue to keep my bills low so I can live without stress over this months as well as next months bills. I can breathe, and learning how to sleep, 'at easy souldier', 'relax,' 'rest well.' I was told by friends and family. It's going to be a good live.”
“Best decision I’ve made! I was extremely nervous to put my 3 year old ANYWHERE, but thankfully, The Children’s Center eased my nerves. My child LOVES coming here and LOVES her teachers! Ms Kiara and Ms Sol are Amazing!”

“Great place. They have a weirdly good selection of kitchenware. Been there twice now and both times found exactly what I needed. 2 nice, see-through lids for pots, and a ceramic casserole dish from Corningware. All for a great price. Staff are friendly too! Will be back again”

“Located in a large modern architectural building in the Chicago neighborhood, Lawndale, BBF is very welcoming. They offer so many important services in this low-income community. -Social programs, academic tutoring, emotional health services and career development opportunities. When I was asked to volunteer at a city wide "baby shower" and toy giveaway, I knew immediately that I wanted to do it. Spending my day greeting expectant mothers and children who were anxious to pick out toys, I was so glad to be a part of the event. I knew that Lawndale had a lot of gun violence, but I still met way more young pregnant mothers who had just recently lost their partners to it than I expected. Way more. Gun violence and poverty is a serious threat to this community, so organizations like Building Brighter Futures are so needed. The event held here was pretty amazing. Not only were there tons of brand new baby clothing, but there were also new strollers, pack-n-plays, and breast pumps. They had free toys for kids and they had massage therapists on site who were offering free prenatal massages for the expectant mothers. It was truly wonderful to see so many people come together to help some of the most vulnerable people in this community. -women and children. This is a great organization to consider if you're wanting to donate time and money to something of real value.”

“My kids are grown up now but I sure wish The Bridge Teen Center was there when they were younger! There are so many wonderful programs for the kids! It is so awesome for the kids to go there and check out new craft ideas and all kinds of other interesting topics and things to do! I'm sure some have even had a chance to meet new friends! What a wonderful program! I try to tell everyone I know about it and to support The Bridge Thrift Center by shopping and donating to their store!!! This is such a wonderful opportunity for the kids!”
“Really nice people. Showed up at 11 am for 1 pm delivery. Broker sent us rate con with delivery at 1 pm. They close at 1 pm. Our original appointment was 7 am. They still unload me rightaway. Thank you”
“Great place to start gymnastics. We have younger children that started gymnastics with TriStar in spring and by end of summer they are able to do many new things like cart wheels, flips and climbing ropes and other skills on equipment with assistance. I'm not looking to make my children competitive gymnasts but give them opportunities to try something and get some skills. I think the staff here do an excellent job and connect really well with the kids.Location is an old former warehouse so it is a bit remote and sketchy, building is dusty sometimes cold or hot because it is a huge space.”

“My Dad served honorably in WWII. A member of "the greatest generation" he was a great man and beloved by many, not only his family but community also.I don't know how I could have gotten through his funeral day without the respect and acknowledgment that came from beyond our family's mourning. The armed servicemen in uniform that saluted his flag draped casket as he was carried past them to his final resting place and their beautiful folding of the flag and presenting it to my Mom was so uniting. It really made one feel that our Country cared for its Servicemen even so many decades later. But most of all I thank Tom Day and his Bugles Across America. The volunteer who came and performed Taps was an excellent musician. That day we were especially blessed as the funeral home had also arranged for the Servicemen I mentioned and they too by chance, planned to play Taps. Our family was so so touched and surprised when Taps was played echo style by the two buglers. That beautiful and well deserved tribute to my father meant the world to my Mom and our family and we speak of it often. Bugles Across America is a wonderful organization with wonderful volunteers that at a very short notice give comfort and inspiration at a time most needed. I support them whole-heartedly.”
“In 2009, I arrived at the Women's Residence here in Chicago. Dianna was my first contact in Chicago. She set excellent boundaries, shared the train with me, we worked out to music and she welcomed me with an amazing Christmas presents and introduced me to her friends, volunteers, networked connections and even brought me along to a Mental Health facility where she donated her passion of Art! Unfortunately, I fell into another severe depression and ended up in the hospital followed by 9 months in a nursing home. Now I am connected with Thresholds, had an excellent PhD Psychologist who dug deep to resolve feelings of wanting to die due to an abusive biological family. I'm now Clean from Opiates and Sober now for 47 years. I will never forget your expertise and decades of helping your community in so many ways. On 12/14/24, I got very dizzy and fell breaking both ankles so my physical capacity is now limited. I love you and think of you often. Take care, Cindi Hall ???️?????????????????️???????????????✌️?✊PROUD TO BE WOKE! IT SURE BEATS BEING WILFULLY IGNORANT AND RACIST!!!!!”
