“I walked in needing 4 items. I asked about the first item and got the aisle number. The very helpful man followed me to the aisle and asked me more questions about my item which was great because I learned alot, probably would have bought the wrong thing, and was done much more quickly. He then asked about my other items, helped me find and pick out those, and I was out the door quickly. I also noticed he did not direct me to most expensive items. I couldn’t help but sing the jingle on the way home: “Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man!””
“My daughter needed some cherry plywood for a printmaking project at SIU-E. I called Kunz late on a Saturday morning (around 11:40 am) and Doris told me that they had some in stock. The store was set to close at noon and I was 20 minutes away. Adding to my dilema, I had no way to fit a full 4x8' sheet in my Jeep Cherokee. Doris told me to take my time and that she'd stay on until I arrived. Additionally, she asked one of the guys to return to the store in order to cut the sheet down for me into four 2x4' sheets. I got there right at noon and the material was already cut and waiting for me. No extra charge for keeping them over, the call back, or the cuts. I don't know of anyplace else that would have done this for an infrequent customer on a very small order. Kunz is about an hour and a half from my home, but is now my "go-to" for hardwoods. Thank you both for going way above and beyond in customer service and kindness! You deserve WAY more than five stars!!”

“We visit frequently due to home renovations and wood projects, and the staff are always so helpful and kind. My one request would be to get a new “race car” shopping cart. We have two littles who love to ride in it, but the current one has a broken off steering wheel, no child safety belts(!!), and the handle to push is broken off and has a sharp edge.”

“I went to 4 other places including another Ace trying to get my truck key copied, I was in the store for less than 2 minutes and the key was cut and the employee was out to my truck programming the transponder key. Less than 5 minutes and I had my key, and it was only 30 bucks! I'll be coming back for another spare key soon. Thanks!”
