“I wish I could give it 6 stars! My wife and I stayed at the Makanda Inn for a weekend getaway. The area is home to some amazing hiking at Garden of the Gods and Giant City State Park quite literally across the street not to mention many local wineries & shops. The Inn is a beautiful, natural place to stay for a weekend. We relaxed, reconnected and enjoyed the Inn in our beautifully appointed suite. Breakfast was amazing each day too! This area has so much to offer, we feel like we only scratched the surface. We will be back for another trip next year and we're bringing friends!”

“...somewhere west of Panther Den Forest and south of the Little Grassy Fish Hatchery and Giant City Stables, in the midst of the lakes and hills of southern Illinois lies a timeless national treasure (spanning at least two counties..Jackson and Union) . Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s/40s as part of Giant City State Park, the lodge has been independently operated by the same family ever since. Three generations of family keep the lodge operation running... thsnk you Richard, Mike, Mikey ..and Mikeys Mom !The restaurant seems to specialize in fried chicken and prime rib with an all you can eat / family style offering. Since I no longer accept the "all you can eat" challenges, I had the Maple bourbon glazed salmon. Excellent glaze. Nicely cooked. Baked potato with butter and sour cream, and then this singular Giant carrot ?Anyway...there is tons to do down here...with cabins available for rent at this same location...and the multitude of lakes, wineries, and other attractions.Watch out for bigfoot !”

“My 3 kids, boyfriend and I, stayed here for a month, from April to May and the staff is wonderful the boss is great, it's clean, food was good ext I've been thinking about it since!!”

“This hotel should not be named Quality inn. It should be called nightmare at the Inn. Its filthy smelly unsafe on all aspects, from the door to the room not lockingsecure and the chain was broken. As well as the room amenities should have been thrown out was filthy. The toliet was unsafe and not mounted to the floor.”
