“On my first trip there, I was less than impressed, but decided to give it a second try. On that visit, I met Darek who worked with me. Not only did he hear what I was still trying to get straight in my own brain, he had the answers. He was not pushy, he waited until I was ready to make the actual purchase. When I started pondering between the crossover and the camry, he listened, gave his opinion, then a key for a test drive. It turned out that we wete both right in our opinions, and the camry was indeed the choice for me. He was patient and understood the questions that somebody buying their first new car since the 80's had .

“I recently used CarMax’s 24-hour test drive service. While I had agreed with the agent on the return date and time, he started calling me early while I was in a meeting. Since I was unable to answer, I later found a text message saying, "While you have our car in your possession, you need to answer the phone." I found this message unprofessional, so when I returned the car, I requested a new agent and showed the manager the text. They provided me with a different agent, but I had to wait an hour past my scheduled appointment.

Despite this, I purchased the car with a 10-day return warranty and a 30-day CarMax warranty. The new agent was excellent, acknowledging my previous experience and exceeding my expectations. Unfortunately, on day 10, the car’s transmission failed. CarMax promptly allowed me to return it for a full refund or exchange, and I chose another vehicle. Again, my new agent provided outstanding service.

A few days later, the check engine light came on. Since the car was under the manufacturer's warranty, CarMax sent it to the dealer for repairs and provided me with a loaner. The issue turned out to be debris in the radiator, which was resolved quickly.

Overall, the service at CarMax is good, though long wait times seem to be common when purchasing a car. While I had one bad experience with an agent, it appears to be an isolated incident that was addressed. The issues with the cars and that initial negative experience led me to rate them 4 stars.”
