“Al Bar provided hardware restoration services on numerous original door and cabinet hardware components in our national landmark 1901 Frank Lloyd Wright E. Arthur Davenport House over the last 20 years. Our original 1901 hardware has a rare Bower Barff Finish that is quite beautiful. They did an amazing job in restoring the original finish. Their technical expertise in finding or replicating missing screws and components is superb. As a Restoration Architect and Frank Lloyd Wright House Owner I highly recommend them.”

“This place gets the full 5 stars from me! My front door knobs had custom dimensions and lots of holes from previous owners. Any other specialty hardware store I went to suggested I spend thousands on mediocre hardware or buy new doors. When I came in to Wilmette hardware and presented my challenge, Justin was super supportive and helped me find a solution. He welcomed my creativity. The owner offered up his help and expertise as well. I now have my DREAM front door knobs. They were easy to reach if I had any questions. Door knobs were well wrapped and shipped to me quickly. All the parts I needed were included. I couldn’t be happier and am so glad I made to the hike to this place. You guys rock!”

With the Chalet is „You get what you Pay for.
They have expert advisors on hand at all times. I have not found they are any more expensive than other similar-sized nurseries, like Lurvey’s. I’ve compared
Prices and they’re not that much different. If you just need flats, you could find somewhat cheaper options elsewhere ( but even small Windy City Gardens, on Greenbay Rd Evanston, charges about the same. If you’re willing to drive 45-60 minutes away, you can find cheaper prices at far-flung nurseries, so it depends on how much you value your time as well. Two-hour round trip vs. 20 minutes. For large Purchases ( say 20-, 50 of a certain bush), the time would be worth it. Time or money? The eternal quandary.”
