“I recently visited the BMO Bank in Woodridge with a legitimate business need: I had a check from my boss and wanted to cash it there, even though I’m not a regular customer. I approached the teller, who was professional, and in a lighthearted moment, I simply complimented her by saying she looked nice. Unfortunately, this turned into a really unpleasant ordeal.
The security guard on duty suddenly accused me of sexual harassment over that harmless comment. He became verbally aggressive and made me feel genuinely threatened, to the point where I had to call the police just to de-escalate the situation.
It was shocking to see how unprofessionally the security staff behaved. Instead of ensuring a safe environment, they escalated a simple misunderstanding into a dramatic scene. I did nothing wrong by giving a polite compliment, and I felt like the security guard was trying to play the hero in a completely inappropriate way.
I hope BMO Bank takes this feedback seriously and trains their security staff to handle situations with more professionalism. No customer should have to call the cops just to feel safe in a bank.”
