For five or six years now, we have been returning to Mr. Wulf anytime we need help with setting diamonds, casting a new ring, or even altering the cut of a stone. This was both when he was located elsewhere and was known as Aaland and Wulf. Every single time we have asked for custom work and his help, he has met or exceeded our expectations. It’s not just him! Sarah and Luke have also been very patient and working us through the process of making the decisions and checking different diamonds. My wife and I work very hard for our money and we appreciate a business that helps us to get the most benefit for such an important and large purchase. The very first time that I found him, he was the only jeweler out of 10 that didn’t laugh me out of the store when I told him what my request was (One of them even stated that if I’m able to find THAT, he would buy it, all while laughing). Instead, Mr. Wulf simply stated “I’m pretty sure we can do that for you!”, as he walked back to the vault. I recommend them as your very first and only stop!”

“Im sharing my experience with this local business. I walked in after going to several local buy/sell gold as I was looking to sell a bracelet I had. I was offered lots of low ball offeres from other places. I decided to try 1 more local place which was Merrillville Jewelers, I walked in and skeptical of what I would be offered. He asked me what I was looking to get out of my item, I gave him a fair value of what I knew my item was worth, he countered, and at the end he gave me the offer I was looking for. After we got done with the deal, we talked alot, I stayed in the shop for an extra 10 to 15min after the deal was done. You will not find a more honest and honorable man locally. Merrillville Jewelers shocked me on how Amazing the service was, but not only the service, I felt at home, I was completely comfortable talking to him. For those who read these comments, Please don't go to other places to buy jewelry or to sell what you have. Don't get low ball offers as I got from other local places. Merrillville Jewelers by far is the place to go. If you're looking for Great Customer Service, Someone who is not a salesman but can really be honest with you and not looking to take advantage of you, than I would highly recommend stopping by and getting all your jewelry needs met. “I recently stopped into Crescent Jewelers to get fresh batteries for some watches left to us by my aunt. I was actually traveling when I thought I should get the batteries before going home.
They honestly told me one watch was broken and that a new battery probably would not help. I offered to pay them for their time, but they refused to accept money since they didn't really sell a battery for a broken watch.
Crescent is the same quiet unassuming non-chain neighborhood jewelry store that I remember from years ago when I stopped in for a small repair I believe.
I haven't ever bought jewelry there because Crescent sells demure, understated and reserved styles. I get the impression that their Pandora selections are as bold as Crescent will ever sell. I make my own beaded charm style jewelry.
Lucky for Crescent, demure, understated reserved jewelry styles and Pandora are HUGHLY popular with younger buyers. I see young women wearing these soft styles all the time, especially thin gold choker necklaces with tiny pendants.
But not so much with older folks who rock jewelry styles like they are still living in the 80s and 90s. Of course Crescent maybe has bolder styles in inventory but not on display. I should have asked.
But I did notice something very BIG at Crescent tho: several JUMBO silver coins. Actual US Mint 5 ounce silver dollars the size of your palm... way bigger, maybe 3 times the size of traditional silver dollars. I guess I missed these on the Mint release schedule.
Also there is a nice selection of shipwreck treasure coins (I believe they are shipwreck) and emerald pieces I couldn't afford because it was the next to the last day of my vacation. I wish I had stopped into Crescent earlier.”

“Great experience here! Went to get a tennis bracelet resized and asked about a wedding band I wanted cleaned with rhodium. My tennis bracelet came back beautifully and the ring made my jaw drop! Stopped in wedding week and got my ring cleaned and the girls in the front were so nice, Jim too! Plan on coming in sometime soon to see about a spacer band for my ring. Would trust them wholeheartedly - fast turnaround and good prices too!”
