“I took my 5 and 7 year old to the Culbertson Mansion since they loved visiting the carriage house during the Halloween season. I have gone to two murder mystery events last year and had a great time. The staff is always nice and professional. Shelby was great answering the kids questions and having patience. The house was beautiful and it was great to have a tour to ourselves.”
“Our family held our daughter’s wedding at Mansion 1886 in June of 2025. Our guest were impressed with the historic vibe and elegant beauty of the venue. The new bridal suite is amazing. There was plenty of room for all 8 bridesmaids and a few others. The suite includes a bar area, makeup mirrors and in suite restrooms. I would love the ceiling to be covered or painted black. There also needs to be a larger trash can in the area. We had the ceremony in the ballroom area. We were able to fit 200 guests easily, and a live painter. The 12 foot arch was beautiful against the white and black wall. After the ceremony the room was flipped for the reception by family. I put lots of work into preparing for the flip. I created my own table chart and list of instructions. The team of flippers was established prior to the wedding day. The flip went smoothly and the room was beautiful. While the room was flipped we had two charcuterie boards upstairs. We placed 8 foot charcuterie tables in each large room. The only issue is accessibility for those mobility issues. Unfortunately, it was blazing hot outside so pictures were difficult because of weather. If we had fewer guests we would have done pictures in a room upstairs instead of outdoors. We set up 20 tables in the ballroom and 6 tables in the mezzanine. There was plenty of room for a large dance floor. I was very nervous that we would not have room, but I was wrong. It did not feel crowded. This venue is historical, beautiful, managed by an eager helping spirit, Megan. The night of our wedding the staff that was here was extremely helpful. The big oops of the day was the refrigerator went out, but we were able to use a large refrigerator in a different area. I also failed to notice the stairs the catering company needed to use. Parking was a small issue, but the staff helped have people not attending our party moved.”
“The Root is a great place to work, connect, and be productive. As a member, you get 24/7 access, reliable Wi-Fi, and access to well-equipped conference rooms, which makes it perfect for both focused work and client meetings.
What really sets The Root apart, though, is the atmosphere. The co-owners, Mark and Brigid, are truly salt of the earth people who go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. They’ve created a space that’s not just functional, but genuinely inviting and community-driven.
It’s a great environment for networking, collaboration, or just getting out of the house and into a professional setting. I would highly recommend The Root to anyone in the New Albany area looking for a flexible and supportive workspace!”
“This is a cute little reception hall. You can rent it out for special events. They also host a trunk or treat every Halloween. The site where this is also is the location for the Floyd county 4-H fair. It has a large seating area And dance floor. They also have a full kitchen that you can use when renting. The back of the property lines up with community park on grant line rd. You could honestly walk from Newlin hall to the park. The entrance is easy to pull in and out. There are two exit locations, both on opposite ends of the property to easy congestion of traffic. The parking lot is paved, however if you have an exceeding amount of guests then the over flow parking is on a grassy area. During the fair they have, demolition derby, animal shows, tractor pulling, and many other activities.”
“Stopped by to vote in the IN Primary Election. The parking lot entry/exit was not well marked or safe getting off or on Green Valley Road, parking spaces not well marked and with the lot full some cars pulled-in and parked so close you could barely get out or back in your car without doors hitting, there was no allowance at entry for those voters who were handicapped (parking close to the door, allowing entry at front of the line and not walking to back of line and standing for extended period of time), staffing was friendly and helpful. Would of been nice to have more Voting locations to speed up time in waiting as during General Election.”
“Our wedding in November was perfect! Amber was very communicative and helpful with preparing for the day. The space itself is gorgeous. The town of New Albany is walkable and has many accommodations and restaurants nearby. We were obsessed with the getting ready rooms, especially the pool table in the Groom's room. The bridal suite is very spacious, and all the bridesmaids and family members got ready there. We got married and had the reception in the Ballroom. It is so beautiful, especially in the evening with the small lights turned on. The bar was excellent as well. It was a beautiful and historic venue that all our guests adored.”
