“New Hope Church in Adel has earned my appreciation for a very simple and very Christian reason: hospitality with functioning bathrooms and clean floors.
I don’t attend there, so I can’t speak much to the church’s programs. But they host Adel Classical Academy on Mondays and Wednesdays, along with school events like plays and showcases, and we’ve been genuinely grateful for the facility they provide.
The place is clean, functional, and well cared for—and anyone involved in schools, children, or public gatherings knows that is no small virtue. The classical tradition valued order, beauty, and the common good; the Christian tradition has long honored hospitality as a form of grace. New Hope seems to have absorbed both without making a fuss about it, which is perhaps the most classical thing of all.
If you have children and haven’t looked into Adel Classical Academy, the building alone might be worth a visit. It’s the kind of place that suggests the people inside take what they’re doing seriously.
In other words: maybe not the Parthenon, but exactly the kind of place a community is thankful to have.”
