Hours: Burget Mill is Altoona, Iowa's oldest family-owned feed store, proudly serving the Des Moines metro and Central Iowa since 1896. Now in our 5th generation, we offer pet food, livestock feed, bird seed, custom feed mixing, and local delivery. We carry trusted dog and cat food brands including Kent, Diamond, NutriSource, and Ultimates — plus treats, chews, and everyday pet essentials. For livestock owners and hobby farmers, we grind and mix our own horse, chicken, calf, and hog feeds using quality local corn and Canadian oats. Custom mixes available with a 500 lb minimum. We also stock bird seed, sunflower, nyjer, suet, grass seed, fertilizer, and bedding. Burget Mill is an authorized U-Haul dealer with trucks, trailers, and moving supplies.
