GrandStay Hotel & Suites Ames offers a mix of experiences for its guests. Many reviewers highlighted the spacious, clean rooms, which include comfortable king rooms with separate seating areas and kitchenettes. The hotel is conveniently located near a movie theater, mall, and various restaurants, making it easy for guests to explore the area. Friendly staff, particularly a helpful manager, have also been noted for their excellent service. However, some guests expressed concerns about the hotel's initial impression, citing a need for improvements in the lobby area and outdoor seating, which appeared dirty and unwelcoming. The pool and hot tub were reported as closed, and there were issues with cleanliness in some common areas, such as the entryway and hallways. Despite these drawbacks, the rooms themselves were appreciated for their comfort and quietness, with minimal noise from outside and hallways. Overall, GrandStay Hotel & Suites Ames has potential but would benefit from updates and better maintenance to enhance the guest experience. It is recommended for families visiting the nearby university, given its convenient location and spacious accommodations.
