“I came here for the 1st time to grab a few things. The place is HUGE! It's clean. You can get through the aisles easily. Staff was very kind. The lady who rang up my items, was so sweet. I will definitely be going back!”

“This is my go to store for most items especially seasonal items. I have found of you like gardening buy now it won't be there in two months. Goes the same for any holiday. If you see something you like for Christmas in September buy it or it will be gone on three months.”
“The best place to buy a lot of things! I go there for balloons, cards, toiletries, faux flowers often.
Many locations around Des Moines to choose from. Some are better kept than others, but always a good selection.”
“I do not know what the two girls names were that were working there this morning but I want to give them a two thumbs up. They greeted me as I walked through the door. They asked me if there was anything they could help me with and then proceeded to carry on a conversation with me two different times which I greatly appreciated. I don't think I've been into any kind that has ever had two nicer employees.”
“This is the first time I've ever been at this location, I have been multiple locations between Chariton and Corydon and then today was in one in South Des Moines off of army and that was a disaster. This store was clean and stocked something I have never seen in any of the Dollar generals I've been to in Iowa and the lady working named Jody, was nice and personable and helpful and friendly. She was apologizing for the fact that due to the extreme cold weather that it was cold in the store. I have never had such a good experience in a Dollar general”

Derek treat people with kindness and respect!!Always ready to learn the helping hand and you never feel like you’re a burden or an imposition. The stores always in great shape and I can always get whatever I want to give them 20 stars if I could!!!!”
“They have little things that you need. I like that. The staff will follow you around. I'm not too bothered by it but it is a little funny. The store is clean. They don't have the most space but they make it work and are very organized.
Woman at the counter called a dude to help me and then helped the person behind me. I found that weird but I still got helped and that's what matters. I actually come here for the knock off shamwow! It's $2 and I cut them up and use them for some many things that it makes anything weird tolerable. I've tried other versions but this one is The Truth. I'll be here getting them for all my projects, if they follow me around or not.

“I'm only giving it 4 instead of 3 because of the young man who had to deal with the long line of customers after the female, I'm assuming who was on break, came to her register, making a few people think she was opening up then instead just walked away. I get that it's a break but if there's a long line, and you don't want to come back to work, don't look like you're going to jump in and help then simply ignore the line of people, who also assumed you were coming back, and left them hanging. The young man just took it all in stride, he was professional and efficient.”
“I would have given a 5 but the one Hubbell down from Guthrie has a very rude cashier I was getting a gift card and I handed her my old license instead of new one. So it wouldn't go thru i.ask her.if she would run it thru again with the right license that wasn't expired she wouldn't do it. We argued and she says we'll you.dont have to come back..FINE I WONT YOUR RUDE AS HELL.. And I haven't been back to that one since”
“I love Dollar General 1803 West 2nd avenue in indianola iowa. The staff are so amazing. I was there last week and saw that things were going to he changing. We walked into Dollar General on 2ndAvenue, and we wete so wonderful surprised.. they remodel the whole place. It looks so amazing. “Have a lot of things that you need for household items along with grocery items. It's one of my go to places for things that I need that have a lot of things in the store for the most part. They are organized and well stocked. The bathrooms are clean and they have friendly cashiers”

“Always really cute stuff for home decor here. I forget about this store alot.Why is it always dead silent in DG stores though? For real.This one is cramped....really messy and dirty out front. Bout time they installed self check out with how short staffed they have been becoming. But on the other hand... if they keeping they're employees stocking the store, then it should look nicer. This store is a messsssss.”
“I go in this store almost every day. I have zero complaints. Workers are always very polite. Even on my worst days going to this store always cheers me up. This store is my happy place. People like to complain about the bathrooms etc.. then maybe they should come in and fix the stuff that’s broken because the employees are doing what they can. Especially when the customers are constantly stealing the keys. Try working the job they do before running mouths. I swear all the complaints on here are ridiculous. A bunch of Karen’s in my opinion. I’ve never once seen any of the workers at this DG be rude in any way or form. Just saying. This store is awesome. My children and husband love this store as well. Very welcoming and loving. I’d even go as far to say it’s my home away from home. lol. Love this store. Deserves 100 stars if I could give that.”

“I don't shop there often because you could actually closer to my house but when I do go to that one the people that work there are always so polite that's helpful and I just love going there”

“A few boxes in the aisles is much better than being shoved out of the way at Walmart in Indianola by the employees filling online orders in those humongous rolling carts. This DG has friendly employees and you will usually find what you need. Employees are filling shelves and when a customer needs checked out quite often the employee has no choice but to leave a box in the aisle because a customer is at the checkout. It's not because no one is stocking or cleaning. The self check really needs to comeback. That will allow more time for employees to stock shelves, empty the box and take it to the back room.”
