“Nice store, smaller than others in DSM, Indianola, has a pretty good selection. Staff is friendly, but I believe they are short staffed too. Sometimes they're out of certain items.”
“I can’t say enough great things about Christine C. at this Dollar General! Every single visit, the shelves are fully stocked, neat, and organized — which makes shopping a breeze. On top of that, Christine greets customers with the warmest smile and goes out of her way to help me find exactly what I’m looking for.
It’s rare these days to find someone who truly cares about both their work and the customers, but Christine does both with excellence. She is the reason I keep coming back to this store — Dollar General is extremely lucky to have her”
“Did you know HyVee grocery stores started in Chariton? Granny did and that’s why we are in town, she wanted to see the birthplace. As special as that is, Pipers was around way before HyVee was even a thought. I think they said 120 years or something, that’s 3 generations, unbelievable!
Granny saw the red sign, it was near Valentine’s Day and we had to stop. She ordered some of the candies that are made it house, boy they were tasty. The raisin clumps need more raisins to her liking but the rest of it was great. They also had some fun toys, some antiques and some grocery items. Just a little of everything nicely displayed in a really neat shop. Granny said she liked it more than HyVee, that this was the real jewel of the town. In fact, the actual HyVee in Chariton is one of the worst in the country.
Chariton doesn’t mean to the people of HyVee what HyVee means to Chariton and its people. Too bad. Anyway, Pipers is the real gem. Don’t get within 100 miles and not stop. Granny said we need to come back for Easter! Oh boy, a lot of hopping around, that ol gal. Until next time and tell em granny sent ya.”
