Rude lady at the counter told me to get the mileage I don’t work here and they are not open late definitely when I come back here for more training will use the other car rental providers not worth it there website says 24hrs they are not so if your flight is delayed or anything there is no one available to get you keys definitely will use a different provider next time !

This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. The only guy at the counter quite literally tossed keys at me and didn't ask me any questions about fueling or insurance or damages to the car. The car itself was fine enough; it had a broken license plate. I'm still waiting to see if I'm going to be charged for this. I truly won't ever book through this specific Hertz again. The counter guy should be fired, not because he was extremely rude but because he didn't go through any of the protocol you should when renting a car. For context, I travel for work and rent a car once a week.

The guy I spoke to at Hertz location in Des Moines was very rude and offered no advice on how to regain a lost item. He hung up rudely, terrible customer service.

Terrible customer service.The black guy at the front told me I do not need to add additional drivers for them to drive. He needs training. He lied. Also they gave us a car with flat tires.

This place is a joke. They are in Des Moines INTERNATIONAL Airport, but close at 6 with no after hours pick up options. ? And don’t bother trying to call the local number - they don’t answer. I hope the airport replaces their lease with a competent provider. When I said my flight lands at 8:30 - they said they might be able to stay open until 8, or I could come back in the morning without paying a late pickup fee. Thank god for Avis who helped me out when Hertz refused.

Charged me for 7 passenger vehicle. Gave me a 5 and told me no refund for difference because I prepaid. Vehicle was full of trash. Can't reach any living humans to resolve issues. WORST RENTAL SERVICE EVER. DO NOT USE HERTZ!Your responses here and to my email makes excuses but offers no refund for the downgraded, trashed vehicle. I am sure you would charge me right away for an upgrade or if I returned mine trashed and without gas!

They tried to charge me an extra $20 fuel charge even though I brought it back full. Fortunately I’d taken a picture of the dashboard and had proof of their fraud. This isn’t even borderline, it’s blatant dishonesty. I can only imagine the number of people they’ve ripped off because they didn’t have photographic proof. Also, 8:30-6pm (4pm on Saturdays) are extremely limited hours for an airport location. I was almost unable to pick up my car due to a flight delay. And an FYI to gold members, you still have to go to the counter at this location (you can’t go straight to the garage like most locations), so there’s really no benefit over other, more honest rental options at this airport. Very disappointed because I travel almost every week for work and in general I’ve been happy with Hertz.

I reserved a reservation thru Expedia for October 13th, 2023 at this location. I was treated very disrespectfully by a thin young black male with earrings in his both his ears at the pickup counter. Not only was he rude and dismissive, but he commented on my age which is only 44 in a very questionable way. If rental from this location I recommend dealing with someone else.

Received rental with two empty bottles and beef jerky on the floor and under the seat and the car was filthy on the inside. barely had any fuel and where I normally rent the vehicle is full and you return it full. I tried calling them numerous times and they did not pick up the phone. They had said the car needed to be returned at 100% full so I did that, but refused to do anything about any of my other concerns. So they got $60 in free gas and I got to ride around with trash.

Booked a car rental online and upon getting to the car rental counter learned that they closed an hour and a half before our flight landed. Unable to call customer service to speak with a human was icing on the cake.I wish there was some form of communication or feature that would have notified us that the reservation was booked for pickup during a time they were closed.

A really terrible experience. The staff are rude, don't look you in the eye or smile, or apologize when you have to wait. I had to wait for 15 mins to get a car even though I had a reservation and am an elite member of Hertz. Once I got a car it was dirty, needed repairs, and had lots of scratches. I would normally have gone back to ask for a new car, but I didn't want to deal with the counter again. The epitome of bad customer service.

I got into town a bit early and was able to pick up my vehicle a day early with no issues. Take the other negative reviews with a grain of salt, the staff is friendly and responsive, location is convenient and vehicles are fine quality. Will definitely use again next time I am in the area.

If you are flying in later in the day do no book here. My flight info was in my reservation and was to arrive at 5:30pm. The flight was delayed but I managed to rush down to the ticket counter by 6:03pm only to find it “closed”. When I booked the reservation there was no indication about their hours (counters closed by 6pm). I was in a real bind as I flew back for a family emergency. No car available from any of the other rental counters. I went online and cancelled the reservation only to find a “no show” fee posted on my credit card the next day. I should have charged them that fee!! Trying to get a live person on the phone was impossible. There were 4 other people also left hanging. Horrible experience. Will never book Hertz again. Ever!
