Hy-Vee Grocery Store in Des Moines offers a neighborhood shopping experience known for quality, variety, and culinary expertise. The location provides the same selection as other metro stores with a unique layout and upscale atmosphere, stocking essential foods, produce, meats, seafood, fresh bread, and local brands. However, some customers express strong concerns. They note the removal of helpful smiles, replaced by security patrols, and question recent changes like closing a pedestrian entrance and frequent remodels. Criticisms include stupid high prices, as expensive as Whole Foods, and a shift to self-checkout. While many have a great experience with a good selection, others feel the store has changed, citing missing items in orders and a perception that greed has set in. The store also offers online grocery shopping for pickup or delivery.
Everything was good they just didn't add the extras I was charged for so doordash gave me a refund for the missing fruit and chocolate in the pancakes.

Hey Hy-Vee, what are you doing with this location? Why would you close the sidewalk pedestrian facing entrance to an urban grocery store? Do you know how to run an urban grocery store? Also, why do you have to make remodels to your stores every 2 years? Is that why everything is as expensive as Whole Foods?

The store hours and constant layout change doesn’t bother me. The prices in store not matching what the website says does irritate me.
