Ratt's Underground Records is a family-friendly, family-owned store located in the Merle Hay Mall, next to Ross. It occupies a good space on the east end of Des Moines's oldest mall. The shop offers a huge and wide selection of vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes across a range of genres, along with a large selection of vintage VHS, magazines, original posters, band shirts, vintage clothing, and memorabilia. They also have lots of stereo equipment like CD players, turntables, speakers, and cassette decks, plus other items like Hot Wheels. The store owner is very nice, helpful, fun, and active in the business, creating a comfortable environment. He is not pushy but will check in and mention new items. Customers report that most CDs are priced decently or very good, and if you buy enough, you can usually work out a pretty good deal. While you may not always find exactly what you’re looking for, it is an awesome place with a great selection. People are always very nice, and it is easily the best store in Merle Hay Mall—a true gem that will not disappoint.

Ratt's is an awesome shop in Des Moines oldest mall, it occupys a good space on the east end. Huge selection of vinyl and music related products. This shop will not disappoint.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and kind and the selection is great. Not to mention the prices are very fair and reasonable. They will continue to receive my business.
