“I stopped in for the first time not too long ago and I will absolutely be back. They had a great selection and I really like that they have rotating vendors, it helps keep things fresh. We talked to the owner while checking out and they were wonderful. I highly recommend checking this place out”
“Walked in not expecting to buy anything and not having any experience with plants. I was greeted right away by the owner Miss. Noel! She was very kind, answered all of my questions, and now I’m a proud owner of my first Cactus! A lot of good looking plants, pottery, and moss. Definitely recommend checking it out.”
“Love this little shop! You can feel the care and passion that goes into everything here. It’s locally owned, thoughtfully curated, and the customer service is always warm and personal. A true hidden gem worth supporting!”
“Very cool place to shop if you appreciate sustainability and very friendly people. Vintage Levi’s paired with an amazing sweater, yes please. Awesome vibe and great selection.”
“I spent a half hour here, and thought it was a nice store with a fun owner and a comfortable environment. The owner let me browse a bit, but then checked in on me and mentioned some new stuff he just got in. Overall he wasn't pushy or anything. I ended up finding a couple/few things, but may have found more if I hadn't showed up 30 minutes before the store closed. Ah well, guess I'll have to stop by again next time I'm in town. Overall I enjoyed browsing through the stacks of records. On leaving I noticed they have a ton of CDs and clothing, and they even mentioned cassettes which I didn't know where making a comeback, but hey why not. The place is in an actual mall too, like back when I was a kid... thought those were all gone, it was nice.”
“Interesting store in an old factory or depot. Lots of neat stuff, prices were not unreasonable, staff was friendly. The floors are very uneven, probably due to the age of the building and it's original function, so anyone with mobility issues will have to be extra careful, but overall we liked it and will go back.”
“Beautifully curated store bringing new life to vintage treasures. Owner and associates all possess a true love for their finds and how to appreciate them in new ways within your home. Great corner location in a thriving East Village district. Must stop during your time in Des Moines!”
“ARC was a humbling experience. Did it Florida in 2004. It changed the trajectory of my life. I'm a much better person today. I thank God For the Salvation Army.”
“I love stopping by The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center when I am in the area because you never know what kind of hidden treasures you might stumble upon. The clothing racks are massive and packed with options, and I managed to find a couple of vintage flannels and a great coffee mug for just a few bucks. The store is generally clean and well-lit, though it can get a little disorganized in the housewares section where items tend to get piled up. The staff at the counter were incredibly polite and working hard to process the continuous line of shoppers, making it a wonderful spot to support a good cause while hunting for bargains.”
“This store is remade and unique! ReOpened on 10/17/2025

“Great collection of antique items that are in exceptional condition and fairly priced. Friendly store staff that give great recommendations. It's surprisingly larger than I expected inside the store.”
