“Love this shop. Rotating collection from local vintage sellers. The new clothing space is great and I appreciated the vendors who listed the items measurements on the tags. The owner is super responsive to questions online too!”

“Man, what a cool store! This was one of things we absolutely had to do while in Des Moines. The store has two levels and both have a lot of really fun vintage stuff to look at. There is everything from trinkets, clothes, dishware, magnets, and everything else you can think of. They even had free wine on the day we went, what a treat! We really enjoyed walking around this store and ended up getting a set of Korean made coasters! We did use the vintage vending machine for a mystery prize too. Overall, this is such a fun store to walk around and look at things. The prices were pretty reasonably for pretty much everything too. All of the staff were super friendly as well!”

“Nicole and her staff do an incredible job! Very helpful in answering questions and offering an exceptionally high quality experience. Also, they offer an impressive collection of modern (new) and vintage pieces. All of the items I’ve purchased are my closet favorites, and many are from brands I hadn’t heard of previously. (Thank you for educating me!) Preservation is an absolute gem (and can ship out of state—very convenient!) Go immediately. And follow them—they have a strong social game.”

“Petals & Moss is so lucky to be under the ownership and creative direction of Shawntel Noel, self-taught plant enthusiast! The shop has a fresh new vision and I am excited to see how P&M grows under her leadership. I also have a feeling I will be acquiring more plants, pots, etc.!!!”

“This shop was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our three-day trip to Des Moines. As it turns out - confirmed by the very helpful, friendly lady at this antique store - most shops in town are closed on Sundays and Mondays. She, too, found this both odd and disappointing. That said, I’m glad we stumbled upon the Raccoon Forks Trading Company on our mostly fruitless search for anything interesting to do downtown on a Sunday.I’m probably biased for my love of antique stores, but even still, it is objectively fun to visit. So much stuff to look at! I could easily kill a couple of hours browsing. Prices seemed fair - from larger furniture pieces to small trinkets and antique books. I wound up purchasing an early 1900s jewelry box for $25, which I’m very happy with.”

“ARC was a humbling experience. Did it Florida in 2004. It changed the trajectory of my life. I'm a much better person today. I thank God For the Salvation Army.”

“it was amazing! Worker there saw my interest in things and talked to me about them, he seemed interested in my interest and that made me happy. Alot of cool things, im definitely going again. I bought a slipknot record, slipknot patch, a horror movie, and he gave me a slipknot sticker free! There was soooo much more i wanted and would get if i could afford :)”

“The owner is my type of lady! She knows her stuff and is an awesome person to just chat with! Her intelligence and kindness is refreshing in this ever cold and uncaring world. Not to mention the one of a kind and totally iconic items she is selling. Handpicked with love....you can tell.”

“Favorite vintage store in DSM and they are so nice there. They usually buy my vintage stuff for great prices and also have a sweet selection of items! I'm from DSM and live in NYC and it's really a better store than most I've seen in NYC!!”

“I've had pretty good hauls from here. Selection is pretty large, and the store is well organized; not too cluttered but doesn't feel empty either. Also fantastic drop off system. One of the easiest places to donate in the Des Moines metro.”

“Got a senior discount on top of bargains. Lower level is huge! Definitely coming back. Mainly stopped because my shoes for a special event broke and I needed a quick fix. 2 blocks from our hotel it was super convenient too.”
