“Thursday 8/28, right before a major holiday weekend my daughter had an issue with her car. She was desperate to get answers and of course everyone was busy. Someone recommended we call Dodge St. Tire. The owner (can’t remember his name) said come down and I’ll work it in. Our daughter was moving to Tennessee the next morning so it was critical we found out if the car would even make it. Unfortunately it needs a new engine. He gave us all the print outs and then went out and taught her how she could baby it down the road and told her when she got there she would need to fix it or get rid of it. We tried to pay he refused and said he was trying to help us out. I got the feeling he is a genuine, caring person, and unlike some mechanics doesn’t believe in nickle and diming people. I was pushy and insisted he take the money for his time. In a college town a trust worthy mechanic is a God send. I’m happy to report her and her husband made it to Tennessee without having to trailer her car on the moving truck. Thank you isn’t enough! If you need services go here to the small family owned business.”

“I've been to bad mechanics in Iowa City, and I've been to good ones. Iowa City Tire is squarely one of the good ones. The customer service is unrivaled, they're honest about pricing, and are quick to ask you questions/let you know if something pops up that you weren't expecting in their car. I wouldn't go anywhere else. (It doesn't hurt that they have free cookies and beer too.)”

“We had a very scary Sunday road trip to Iowa City in which my car was making a grinding noise. We drove a long way with this noise, hoping when we got to Iowa City we could quickly get it fixed. Because it was Monday and we didnt know anyone in town we were skeptical. Still, we had to be back home on Monday. Our first call was to Dave & Pat Seydel’s, found in a Google search. Pat said on the phone he couldn’t promise anything until he diagnosed. I brought the car in, went with Ed on a drive so he could hear the noise, and before 1 pm they were finished with the repair. We had already paid a “mobile mechanic” to help us on the road but they had made the wrong repair and ate up seven hours doing other things. It was such a relief to have found an honest, capable car repair place after what we’d been through. I have to say the best part about writing this review is knowing they don’t need it. They've got so many people singing their praises because they're that good.”

“First of all I’m an actual customer. JP has worked on 2 of our cars. The work on both was excellent. Perfect color matching and metal work. The second job was a tricky rust repair. A lot of big shops dont want this sort of noninsurance work and maybe for other reasons. JP is just starting out and willing to take this on at very fair prices. Definitely would recommend JP.”
“My husband and myself came from Canton, Illinois. He had to have a difficult procedure performed at the University Iowa Health Care Hospital. We came to Iowa the night before his surgery. When we got to the hospital the next morning, our car died pulling into the parking lot! Here we were 150 miles from home and our car wouldn't start! My husband's surgery started at 7am. It was left up to me to find out about our car. I came across Hanson Automotive. They had good reviews and was fairly close to the hospital. I took a chance and called the business.
The man that answered the phone was so understanding! He told me that he would contact a towing company for me to get our car towed to him. It wasn't 10 minutes later, the towing company called me and said that they would be there asap! Mr Hanson called me back to make sure that i was contacted by the towing company. The towing company came and got our car, they took it to HANSON AUTOMOTIVE INC. He called me 3 hours later, first he asked about my husband, then our car. He told us that it was the serpentine belt and the battery. He wanted to make sure that it wasn't something else that caused the serpentine belt to malfunction, before he gave the car back to us.
He called later that day and said that he was confident that it was fixed and ready to make the 150 mile trip back home. I told him that we weren't going to be discharged until 2 days later. He said not to worry. The next day I began trying to figure out a way to get our car. He said not to worry, he then told me that he would pick me up asap and bring me to our car. He did just that!
We arrived at his place of business, once again he explained what had happened with the car and how the billing system was set up. I paid the bill, which by the way was extremely reasonable! Being a woman who knows nothing about cars, he could of taken total advantage of me when it came time to pay the bill. He didn't! I would highly recommend this business to anyone! Mr Hanson, you are the best! Thank you for being so thoughtful, nice, sincere and honest!

“Recently took my son up to Iowa for school with a car that had some unknown engjne troubles. Crow got him in the next day, assessed the source of the engine trouble, consulted with our previous mechanic, and ultimately determined there was an engine issue that wouldn't be cost-effective to repair.
