“This is hands down the BEST Goodwill I’ve ever visited. It is very well kept, and I’ve found soooo many hidden gems. Most of the clothes here are also name brands and in excellent condition. Sis, it’s better than Plato’s here. I found brands like Nike, Under Armour, Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Altar’d State just to name a few! I was very surprised. I stopped by just to take a quick peak and was there for an hour and a half… oops HAHA. Their fitting rooms are also open. :)”

“Super cute finds. Much better than the other big antique store in the area. I got an awesome blue porcelain roman style horse and an adorable Japanese porcelain white cat.”

“Really enjoy stopping here. It’s not a huge shop but that also means it’s not overwhelming. I have around a variety of high-quality things here, from clothing to books to decor. Nice holiday items at Christmas time. The prices are some of the most reasonable in town and the volunteers working the cash register are always so sweet and friendly.”

“The facility was very clean and organized. The Me N Mommy To Be crew was knowledgeable and helpful regarding the available merchandise. I will definitely recommend them to others.”

“Absolutely good people. I don’t donate anywhere else. Cheap, great quality items. Their flash sales can’t be beat. This is a NFP that gives your bucks to pay vet bills! No big corporate swindle! It’s a true charity thrift store.”

“Best thrift store in town. Had some cool furniture and the prices were fair. Best of all it’s for a great cause and really helping people who actually need it.”

“Arrived 9 minutes before close on Thursday, November 30th, 2023 and the doors were locked. The lady at the register with a baby blue sweatshirt just glanced at the door.I know it was close to their closing time, but I went back to see if the glass item I didn’t buy earlier that day was still available. If locking the doors 10 minutes before close is the norm, stating that on the hours would be nice to know.Thank you.”

“LOVE this store! Merchandise is nicely displayed, like a small boutique, but prices are very reasonable! Everything is clean, no thrift store smell and it is obvious that they only accept quality items for resale. Don’t forget to look in the drawers of the various display cabinets for additional treasures. We found many great items that just had to go home with us!”

“Love this place. Cheap prices and good stuff! I always find something I need and several things I don't. ?? Staff is great and friendly. They have programs to help the needy and people trying to rebuild their lives. Love that. They believe in 2nd chances and help people get theirs. Keep up the good work!”

“ARC was a humbling experience. Did it Florida in 2004. It changed the trajectory of my life. I'm a much better person today. I thank God For the Salvation Army.”

“A lot of nice things but I don't agree with the prices. Pricing has gotten out of hand which has caused a lg. decrease in my purchasing. This has been voiced to me by a lot of people recently that share in the same views⁵. I hope to see a decrease in prices, in clothing sales &”

“I've had pretty good hauls from here. Selection is pretty large, and the store is well organized; not too cluttered but doesn't feel empty either. Also fantastic drop off system. One of the easiest places to donate in the Des Moines metro.”

“Not a bad location — I thought they had a decent selection of items, but nothing top tier. Definitely understaffed, as others have said. I did have to wait in the check out line to ask for a fitting room key, and thankfully the line wasn’t terrible or I wouldn’t have. The employees were super kind about it, though.”

“Got a senior discount on top of bargains. Lower level is huge! Definitely coming back. Mainly stopped because my shoes for a special event broke and I needed a quick fix. 2 blocks from our hotel it was super convenient too.”

“I dropped off a full tote of high end clothes and shoes. I have called 3 times and no one seems to be able to find any of my items. All 3 times I was promised a return call and still nothing. I just moved back here and really needed that money. Very irritated.UPDATE. Received a call from Ariel and she found ALL my items. I cannot thank you enough for your assistance. You are much appreciated.”

“I hope someone there is listening because this is a big problem with your clothing. You guys use a punch gun with much thicker plastic threading than most thrift stores. That’s not a problem if you are punching it through the tag or somewhere that isn’t going to be noticeable. I can’t tell you how many items that are left with a very obvious hole because people just punch it wherever they feel like. Through the collar, back of the shirt, it’s terrible. There’s no reason if there is a hang tag you cannot punch it through there so you’re not puncturing the actual fabric and leaving a hole. I almost wish you guys would go back to stapling the tags on. At least when you removed the staple, it did not leave a noticeable hole. I’ve enclosed two photos. The first is the wrong way. Using a punch gun right through a leather collar leaving a very noticeable hole. The second photo is the way you guys need to be doing this all the time. Through the hanging tag only. On the positive – you guys have really cleaned up your stores over the past five years. Prices are quite a bit higher than most other thrift stores, but if you have the patience, you can still still find great stuff for a decent price.”

“Man I love coming here. It's not like other thrift stores and it's a madhouse and that's what makes it great. I always find fun things here and you just can't beat the price with a stick”

“Very busy when I last went on a Saturday afternoon with loads of people per isle, mostly just browsing each isle quickly and then leaving. It's a popular place for sure with lots of people looking for something fun and unique. Despite the crowd the shelves were kept mostly full and restocked fairly fast but you really might do best coming after a rush like after 4pm during dinner if you want a good chance of getting something good without having to battle for it. Felt somewhat similar to a goodwill outlet with how busy it was and with the clothes being not the best and everything unboxed and all over the place. However the workers do work hard at zoning the shelves so they looked somewhat orderly but it's a battle for sure. There was lots of stoneware when I went and collector plates. Some milk glass and Corningware. As far as vintage goes I saw the highest density of older items in the kitchenware section. Everything else was fairly new. For 1.49 a plate and mug you might have a hard time buying smaller plates or smaller mugs feeling like you arent getting as good of a deal, but these are still very low prices and if you check the makers mark on the bottom you can walk out with a set of dishware worth much more than what you paid. Clothes weren't the best and it was clear the racks were picked clean of the best items. Very little vintage clothing and mostly modern. It could be that people just aren't donating good clothes or that more people shop goodwill for clothing items so it's harder to find something good. Mens shoe selection was poor but there was a decent amount of womens shoes of different styles. Compared to other goodwills this one had a larger amount of toys, games, Christmas items, and electronics like lamps. The dvds and cd's were kept on an open shelf versus a display case which was nice for browsing but you absolutely have to check if the dvd is actually in the case because sometimes it's not. That's true for about all the items there, you definitely should inspect everything well. Friendly customer service and there were plenty of cashiers to get people through the line. The workers were very good at identifying when they could help a customer that was ready to checkout. Oh and the bathrooms were clean.”

“Sally's is a good place to look for work clothing, blankets for the cabin, really anything you are looking for you will probably find it there. They have about 4 stores around the Des Moines area”

“Pretty good location to drop off unneeded items. Very convenient and fast drive through drop off. However, in terms of the shopping experience, it's pretty average. Selection is alright, and the walking space feels a bit too tight. Overall a pretty alright Goodwill.”

“I work at a competing thrift store, so I can safely say that the Hope Ministries Thrift Store offers similar quality merchandise compared with the store where I work. In all fairness, high quality donations translate into high quality merchandise that thrift store customers prefer to purchase!”
