“I'm originally from this beautiful area of the country. We stayed with our adult children & other family. It was a perfect set up. We had our own space plus a great setting to gather as a bigger group in the Big Slough unit. Love that each unit had a full kitchen & living space. Beautifully decorated with good use of space. I've stayed in a variety of rentals in the area and across the country and I'm thoroughly impressed with Backwater Suites with the view of the Mississippi. Top notch! Looking forward to future visits.

I like that they have different room options at different rates.

All units were booked, but each unit must be well insulated because we never heard a sound from the other guests. Perfect location in town where there's lots to see and do.”

“What a great stay with a delightful view of the river from the shared deck out back. Being right above Coffee on the River makes this a great location to stay with some of the best coffee and breakfast in northeast Iowa available downstairs in the morning.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed a night in the Dock Suite. Nothing fancy and no view from the room to right home about, but we slept well and enjoyed the convenient location. The railway is a few feet (yes, feet) in front of the building, but the trains are not constant and they seem to stop coming through town before 10pm, so we slept soundly.”

“Motel room was clean and perfectly sized to fit my needs as someplace to sleep and shower during the week for work.
The owner is great to work with and very attentive.
Room didn’t have any odors and the bedding was comfortable and the bed and pillows are great. Room had direct tv and Roku so even though you’re in small town Iowa, you don’t need to be isolated like it.”
