“We visited a few different stores around Des Moines looking for gifts and souvenirs to take back home, but we couldn’t find anything that really stood out—until we found this lovely little place. Heart of Iowa Marketplace is exactly the kind of store you hope to discover while traveling. It has a great selection of local gifts, unique items, and souvenirs that actually feel meaningful rather than just touristy. I didn’t take any pictures, but I still wanted to leave a review because this is the place to stop if you’re looking for something special to bring home after your trip. A hidden gem in Des Moines!”

“The Boho Vase is so unique and provides the cutest dried floral arrangements that you could imagine! I think I have two or three throughout my home, and have bought a couple for housewarming gifts for friends/family. Maria, the owner, is the sweetest and kindest girl. You’ll definitely find something if you make your way in to the shop.”

“A lovely shop. Not a clutter of inventory like some gift shops. The staff was nice enough to tell me if we don't have the right gift our friend across the way may. I found a lovely gift for me my fridge. Thanx”

“As a person using a mobility device, aka a rolling walker, I struggle going into stores that have lots of little items. This store’s aisles and places to walk through were immaculate snd easy to navigate. A lot of times, I skip shopping in similar stores, because my mobility device is a hinderance, and I can’t safely shop the store. When I was there on April 4th, 2025, I was able to safely shop and look with no issues or assistance needed, which rarely happens. The people working were extremely helpful and kind. I hope this continues and spreads to other places. This store is proof that ADA compliance is possible, and fun items are for everyone!”
