Historic Valley Junction is a delightful mix of old and new in West Des Moines. The gathering place offers unique shops, cute little shops, and fun restaurants that bring a walkable hometown feel. Great atmosphere and vibrant events create a vibrant feel. Every Thursday the Farmers’ Market brings free live music, delicious food, and friendly vendors; drinks are also available on site. People can grab a gyro from Los Primos, find hand made candles, or discover costume ship donkey ears for a Nativity experience. The tradition has become a great place to chill, listen to talented artists, and people watch, with good parking early.
Awesome shops. Clean streets. Nicely decorated. Fabulous Farmers Market on Thursdays 4-8. Lots of events throughout the year honoring and supporting all groups of people. A very inclusive philosophy run by a great staff that supports the community it serves.

A friend and I visited Valley Junction the weekend before my birthday. We ate lunch at Bix & Co and shopped at both Atomic Garage and Upcycled. Upcycled is such a fun store! Atomic Garage gave us great ideas for Halloween rentals.
