“Visited BLK + BRWN on a trip to KC and loved it! A small but intimate book store experience. The owner was an excellent source for new and old books. They host regular book talks and other events. As a reader, I ALWAYS support small bookstores. Make sure you stop by for a book and great conversation!!!”
“Haven't been here in a bit but happily sold some books and bought some more. Sometimes you'll get more than you expect, other times less, but it is really a community service they are performing offering a way to keep those books moving on to new owners. :-)”

“Such a wonderful bookstore with very friendly service! Classic titles in many different subjects. Neat, relaxing spaces in which to browse and read. Chill vibe from both patrons and the space. Cool t-shirts are available as well.(Posting pics I'm thinking aren't too oft-posted as opposed to the more standard fare.)”

“What's not to love about a big ol' bookstore? It's three floors of books to explore and a fourth for movies and music. It's got a cozy little Starbucks inside, it's great. I mean, I advocate for the locally owned independent book stores, but if you gotta go chain it could be a lot worse than ol' B&N”

“Lots of interesting and inspiring items and great people who work there. I wish I had time to read all the inspiring books.., had space for all the beautiful pictures to put on my walls., and $$ to buy all the unique and beautiful items they sell. I love this place!”
“Even though I love the Catholics, I am not Catholic. And even though I was raised Catholic and attended parochial school, I am now just your basic nondenominational evangelical Christian. Denominational preferences notwithstanding, I visited the I. Donnelly Company for some religious iconography. I thought those days were behind me, but life is funny sometimes. My daughter, who is an Avila University alum and also not Catholic, greatly admires St. Teresa of Avila and asked for a desktop statue of her. We have come full circle. I called first to ask if they had an appropriately sized St. Teresa statue before I drove out to 66th and Troost. The young woman I spoke to on the phone was incredibly helpful; she made it her mission to make sure I acquired tiny St. Teresa. Amazingly, they had 2 in different styles. I stopped in that afternoon and the statues were waiting for me behind the counter. I appreciated the eager service. I have to say, that store is packed to the gills with all things Catholic. I imagine the truly devout could browse for hours. I didn't have time to look at everything but you could put together awesome gift packs for communions, baptisms, confirmations, nuns... any Catholic function or person, really. But my favorite items were the sainted socks. That's right. Socks with saints on them. And they had tons. You are bound to find your patron saint on those racks. Anyway, peace be with you.”
“My daughter found 2 books she had been looking for in Nebraska to no avail but was fortunate to find during her visit to Olathe. I look forward to coming back to search for books in the series I read.”
“Sadly, Science fiction ends with Zahn. Other than that, it is really great that this place survives and I really enjoy browsing. Physically, picking up a book and flipping the pages to read a passage.”
“I went just to look around at books on Native American spirituality and other books that fit my life journey, and found seven excellent books I had to have. Half Price Books is always a treasure!”
“A wonderful hidden gem - Willa is lovely and helpful if you’re looking for a certain author or books by topic. Great for books by BIPOC authors, history, activism, music. Great collection of vintage LPs/records.”
“Flagship Books fits well with the Strawberry Hill arts community vibe. The small store is a comfortable space with a good range of books by local authors as well as a selection of other new and used books. The owners are also happy to order books they don't have in stock, making this an excellent alternative to Amazon. Though this review is based on my first visit, I plan to keep an eye out for Flagship-hosted readings and other events.”
“Took some old records in to see if I could get some money for them. The guy was honest with me and told me he couldn't sell them at this time. I appreciate honesty. Also looked like they have a great selection.”
“Barnes & Noble is my favorite store! I like that I can open to a page in the middle and skim through the text and gauge if I like the writing style, manner of description, and character portrayal. With few exceptions, I prefer to visit a brick & mortar store, especially for books, over online.”
“Adding context to my review, I appreciate how helpful Tim (I believe was the name) was in setting up a pull list, explaining the process to me. Tim (again, hoping that name is right) even called me about 10 minutes after I left to get clarification on my chicken scratch variant cover requests. Very satisfied with both B Bop locations but boy howdy this one being down the road from work is going to cost me a pretty penny.”
“The book stores now inside prefix Cafe. It's a little bit smaller but it's a incredibly wondrous Cafe. Also IHOPU students get discounts for books. Be sure to bring your student badge.”
“Imagination brought to life! Can't say enough good things about the displays and amazing creative vibe! We had a great time. Such detailed artwork, super kind helpers. We spent two hours but could have easily spent more time there. And there is more to come. Fun for all ages, our group consisted of children: 3, 5, 8, 10, 14, and 17. There was never a dull moment! I felt that $16 admission was reasonable, but would deter me from going often. The membership price seemed a little high, too. A membership for 4 is $200, and the next level is $500 for up to 8 people. So it isn't practical for our family of 5. As lovely as it is, the affordability factor will play a role in our patronage.”
“Stopped in for the record selection. It's a great selection that you can spend all day digging through. Plus they have books which is another great hobby of mine.”

“Quick and easy if you have pre-ordered books online. Slightly more time consuming if you purchase in person, but still fairly stream-lined. I recently purchased my 4th and last semester of books there without issues”
“It's nice that you can charge your student account and pay your balance when they bill you.I appreciate that they have school supplies and food, though I wish they had a few more filling food options when I'm in a pinch.”
“I always find unexpected treasures when I come in here. The best part is, there always seems to be a sale (at least on what I end up getting). Love shopping here; there are so many different things to look at.”
“I visited Rainy Day books to purchase books for our church libraryThe staff (Peggy & others) had gathered books they thought we might like, and that made the purchase process go smoothly. Peggy also ordered additional books that should arrive next week. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.”
