Capitol Federal acquired the Mid Kansas Savings and Loan Association branch at 4000 East Harry at the closed of business on February 15, 1991. During its first year, the Association's 23rd office deposits grew from approximately $51 million to $59 million, confirming the need for and acceptance of a Capitol Federal branch in southeast Wichita. Wichita now had five Capitol Federal locations, accounting for $382.4 million in savings and $371.7 million in mortgage loans for the Association.
