Crown Uptown Theatre is a beautiful and historic venue with a rich history dating back to 1928, when it opened as a first-run movie theater. Designed by the Boller Brothers and built by George Siedhoff, the theater has undergone several remodels and conversions over the years, including a 1961 change to Cinerama and a 1976 conversion to a dinner theatre presenting Broadway-style shows, when it was renamed the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre. The restored 1920s-style vertical marquee adds to its charm. Recently sold in 2017, the theatre was remodeled again, now fitted with modern sound and lighting, making it suitable for concerts, theatricals, dance, weddings, receptions, banquets, and parties. Visitors praise its large, elegant space, with plenty of restrooms and three bars. The venue provides a unique experience, though seating can be tight, and drink prices may be high. Staff are attentive, and the venue’s ambiance is perfect for a variety of events, from comedy shows to concerts, offering a memorable experience for all who visit.
The cinema is nice and the movies are great, but the ticket prices are a bit high. The seats are comfortable, but the air conditioning can be too cold sometimes. Overall, it’s still a good place to enjoy a film with friends.
