“My consignment which is a highly time sensitive important document has been sent from here in Germany to Bahamas instead of destination Australia. How can that happen? It will now be delivered to Australia , says the status report. I paid a lot of money and chose DHL as I thought I can rely on them. Now how much longer will my consignment take to reach its destination? 3 days, 5 days later then expected? Will it arrive at all? I definitely do not want to have to repeat the whole procedure meaning go back to the notary , get the document apostilled again , send it away another time ( successfully this time?) also costs a lot of money and another holiday. Also would delay the whole procedure by at least three weeks.
I paid for a transport insurance which is highly recommendable , but there will be no damages I can claim for delays regarding an express shipment, I can only claim in case if loss.

Update on 7th July 2026:

After this misrouting, the consignment went back to Cincinnati from where it was forwarded to Australia via Honolulu as originally planned.
DHL delivered the document to the recipient still on the planned date which I would never have expected after this mess up. That is why I am updating my review to 4 stars.”
