“We recently adopted an adorable young tuxedo bobtail cat from Animal Care Society. They were so good to work with. I’m a dedicated “cat mom” and wanted to make sure we got a cat who would integrate well with our four year old orange tabby. They were so patient (and so was my husband) as I deliberated about which kitty to choose. The shelter was bright, sunny and clean and we selected our little guy from a room of cute as can be young kitties. I was glad to be able to choose a kitty that had been with other cats. Our new friend gets along with our older cat pretty well & he loves his new home.”

“My puppy turns one in a few days so we went today for some special treats. The store owner was so nice and even showed me some things I can do to get my rescue dog to listen better and even showed me how to walk him with a harness. So nice and very helpful! I wasn’t expecting that! There are lots of cute, brightly colored toys and treats that are in the bakery case. My dog was in heaven and I can’t wait to take him back again.”

“Great pet store, it's not a corporate chain and it shows. They have a lot of locally sourced treats and a fairly wide selection of food. My only gripe would be that there are only frozen foods and no refrigerated foods but, we switch to freeze dried food anyway so, it's cool.”

“I was recently given a fish tank and stand. So, I went to Petco in Middletown to buy the other supplies I needed. I was greeted by a friendly person who quickly admitted she was not a fish expert. She chatted with me until someone who was a fish expert was free. I'm terrible with names and I wish I could remember, but the lady who then helped me was very knowledgable and helped me find almost everything I needed. She even suggested an item on Amazon (it wasn't sold at Petco), that would make my life easier. This store did not have the size canopy or light I needed as apparently it's a very unusual size, but no big deal. I went home, set up my tank, and the next day I went to the Petco location on Hurstbourne. I was again warmly greeted and talked to someone about the glass canopy and light I was trying to locate. It's not sold at Petco, but she gave some ideas of places to try. Again, really appreciated the helpful attitude that didn't feel like they only wanted to help if it was sold at their store. I went down the road to try PetSmart and the difference in customer service was stark. The PetSmart employee seemed bored and not interested in helping me, even though they DID sell the tank and stand I had as a kit that included the light and canopy. But, they don't sell them separately and he basically told me well, that sucks. Two days later, I contacted one of the places that was recommended to me by the team member at the Petco Hurstbourne location and they can order it for me! Petco didn't have every single thing I needed, but I will absolutely be a repeat customer based on the helpfulness and kindness of everyone I interacted with at both stores, from the cashiers, fish department, and other employees walking around the store.”

“The Vetco experience here is great! You make an appointment online and then can get your pet up-to-date on all of their vaccinations without the vet visit fee! $120 later and my adult dog has all of his annual vaccinations (plus a Lyme vaccination) and was tested for all diseases including tick and heart diseases. We also got his heart worm prescription updated. The staff was friendly and helpful and very sweet to the pup.”

“I waited to write this hoping I wouldn't need to, but I am disgusted to read the things being said about Puppygram here in Louisville. I had a great experience and our little girl is a perfect joy. All these people complaining about puppies in cages are crazy. Have you ever been to a shelter? All the small dogs and kittens are kept in cages, (crates), if you like that term better. Those that bought puppies that subsequently got sick, I've got news for you. Puppies and kittens have immature immune systems and they are exposed to a lot, whether in a pet store or a shelter. I have adopted 3 kittens from Kentucky Humane Society. All 3 had health issues within the first few days. Upper respiratory issues, diarrhea, wouldn't eat. Thousands in vet bills. One died after 8 months. Was it Ky. Humane's fault? NO! They had no idea there would be a problem and neither did Puppygram when they sold those puppies who got sick. These things happen when everyone has the very best of intentions. If you can't afford a pet or aren't prepared for problems, maybe you shouldn't have a pet.”
