“Have you ever been in a museum where you could buy the pieces? This is what it feels like. Definitely one of my favorite places in New Orleans. I’ll never be able to afford anything they sell, but it’s still wonderful to admire special, historically unique, museum quality pieces on a lazy Sunday.”

“Amazing experience! Dominic was very professional but also super friendly. This was my first tattoo so I was a little nervous at first, but Dominic was very understanding and walked me through the whole process step by step. “Unique furniture with a trendy style. A little pricey, but a great selection. The art was fun and unusual. I could spend hours taking my time and looking at every piece like it's a gallery. The location is great and easy to get to.”

“While visiting Algiers in New Orleans, we stopped by The Rosetree Blown Glass Studio and were so amazed at the beautiful art in the form of vases, wine glasses, tumblers (we bought 4, all different), Christmas tree ornaments, bowls, etc. They packaged up our tumblers perfectly and shipped them to us, received next day, in perfect condition. Must visit again!”

“I discovered the gallery by chance on the way home to the hotel and was thrilled by the works on display. Due to the fact that a lot of material was used, the individual images almost had a 3D effect when looked at closely. The colors chosen were enthusiastic, especially those that used the current autumn colors. According to on-site advice, delivery is also possible - but the pictures can also be rolled up.”

“I have been collecting Thomas Mann for over 30 years. Never have I had a problem with any piece I have purchased. The quality is wonderful. The design is unique and both romantic and modern. It is the best jeweler in New Orleans hands-down, and I have been to them all. If you appreciate unusual jewelry that people comment on constantly, do yourself a favor and explore the world of Thomas Mann. You will be intrigued and charmed.”

“This is a wonderful gift shop, that specializes in local artist made items. If you are looking for quality items to gift or take home as a souvenir of your visit to New Orleans, this shop is a great choice! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The offerings are interesting and well made. The store is pleasantly arranged and easy to browse. Prices are fair. (This is NOT a French Quarter junky souvenir shop!)”

“Wonderfully kind people here! I’m furnishing a second home and dropped into Potsalot for a set of everyday dinnerware and it did not disappoint. I ended up splurging on some unexpected unique and beautiful pieces, each with a lovely backstory, that I can’t wait to have become part of my daily life. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in New Orleans.”

“The art here is wonderful. If you have pets (and especially if you have weenie dogs) you will like what they have. The staff is friendly and informed. The gallery can ship prints and items to you and they do a very nice job of packaging the items. They were kind enough to have the artist enscribe the back of the piece with a personalized message. I'm looking forward to getting more from this gallery in the future, and I think any dog or cat lover would be happy with any of these pieces as a gift.”

“Clean, spacious, remarkably staffed. Very happy I was invited here today. My friend met the gents who own and oversee the place so then we had a dynamic guided tour. Lovely purposeful place with a heart for artists who want to see and create understanding and art that tells powerful testimonies.”

“This is my favorite gallery on Royal. Chris Roberts Antieau crests gorgeous one of a kind pieces that also are extremely witty. She has moved galleries since my last visit and they are still working on the final touches so I'm already looking forward to going back to see the new space fully utilized.”

“If you have an event in Nola you need to do it at the Firehouse Loft! If you're considering other venues, don't. The venue is gorgeous, the owner and staff are super helpful and the nicest people.Preamble: We live outside Louisiana and were coming for celebration of life for my father, New Orleans style, looking for a venue that would suit the vibe we were looking for. Once we found Firehouse we realized quickly we couldn't do it anywhere else. The Venue: Modern, yet historic. The building is a converted firehouse, as the name implies. Sean, the owner, and his team did a great job elevating the space into something modern and conversational. Every detail was done tastefully, from the art, furniture, to general flow for any event size. They typically are tailored to festive, work or personal, events but even as a celebration of life the venue was perfect. The Staff: Sean and his team were super communicative throughout the process, even going above and beyond in the planning stage and throughout the event and after. They have vendors that support any festivity and can accommodate all price points. For reference, we only rented the space and a bartender to serve wine and beer, but they ramp up options from there.I cannot say enough about both the staff and venue. It is hard to fault the space in any form. The only real criticism I could render is that the space does not have an elevator, which in the case of our party was not a problem but could be if attendees have mobility problems. The space is on the second floor so be aware of that. I know overly glowing reviews typically raise an eyebrow or two, but there is almost nothing to fault and I struggled to find one, so there you go. Again, truly appreciate Firehouse Loft and Sean's team for everything they did.”

“What a lovely space! Beautifully renovated and very versatile—a terrific event space. Bonus: tons of street parking available for us locals yet close enough to the hotels for visitors.”

“This is a lovely 3-story gallery! James Michalopoulos is an extremely talented artist, and his works are vibrant, engaging, and extremely tactile! We visited during his cow phase and many of his canvases were of cows. He is renowned for his paintings of regional architecture and famous musicians and for designing numerous NOLA Jazz Fest posters and artwork. Many of his architectural pieces seem to defy gravity, as he departs from traditional renderings by painting the structures in arches for example. He utilizes exaggerated viewpoints and skewed perspectives so beautifully! His approach is whimsical, fun, and very engaging! For his paintings, he uses palette knives primarily, and this method results in such a dense, tactile quality to the paint, it is almost as if the paint is ice cream-like, and the viewer could just take a spoon to get the paint off the canvas and take a bite! This is my favorite approach to painting, and it takes quite the commitment by the artist to achieve this result! This lovely, accurate description from his bio sums it up: "His portraits of shotgun houses and Creole cottages, captured in layer upon layer of thick impasto paint, brimmed with color and energy and captured the essence of his subject."Quite the visionary and entrepreneur, Michalopoulos owns a house in the Burgundy region, started and stewards a foundation devoted to providing affordable spaces in NOLA in which artists can create, and live. In the 90s he opened a rum distillery, Celebration Distillation, the first craft rum distillery in the nation in over a century. Celebration features the "Old Orleans" label, and sadly, it suffered a fire, and is closed until further notice. Amazingly, he is primarily self-taught artistically, although he took a couple of art classes in NOLA. This gallery is spacious, it's 3 stories, and not pretentious at all. The staff are friendly, and you may engage with the art as long as you would like during their business hours.”

“I stopped in on my trip to New Orleans and fell in love! The ladies here are absolutely phenomenal! They knew what I needed before I even spoke a word! Then my husband needed some help ordering my moldivite! They went above and beyond even FaceTiming him to make sure they chose the right one for me! Thanx again Nola! Y’all are amazing!!”

“This is a wonderful Voodoo shop with many options to buy spiritual related items. Voodoo is a religion long misunderstood, and just talking to the staff, you can understand it much better for what it really is. I wasn’t planning, but I decided to have a spiritual consultation last minute, and I’m so glad I did! I had a wonderful reading with Kamille, who is such an amazing person and provided an amazing reading. She was SO on point and brought me a lot of clarity and peace. I’m grateful to have met such beautiful souls like you, Kamille! Thank you for your outstanding work!”

“George Rodrigue's Iconic Blue Dog.Does the Blue Dog make you smile? What is the inspiration behind this iconic pop figure?George Rodrigue started his career painting images of his Cajun surroundings and roots. As a child, he contracted polio at age 8. His mother bought him a paint by numbers kit and he learned to draw and paint as he recovered and spent several months in bed. His early paintings were based in the bayous of Louisiana and portraits of locals and famous musicians. He was even commissioned to paint portraits of American Presidents, like Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. During the 1984 World's Fair, he was asked to illustrate a book of forty Louisiana ghost stories. As he painted, he was reminded of a story that his mom shared with him about loup-garou, or the Louisiana werewolf. He needed a model and found inspiration in a beloved deceased family pet, Tiffany. He used her shape and stance for what became his first painting known as Watchdog.Over the next few years, Rodrigue continued to include what eventually became the inspiration for the Blue Dog pop art in other paintings. Blue Dog was featured by Absolut Vodka, Neiman Marcus and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The Blue Dog made her way inside a Campbell's Hot Dog Chili soup can and next to Marilyn Monroe.Today, you can enjoy a collection of George Rodrigue's works at the Rodrigue Studio. There are prints, lithographs and original paintings for sale. I bought a children's book as a gift for a very special four-year old's birthday. Loved hearing story behind a 100-year-old painted Blue Dog Steinway that is located in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel on Canal Street. Next time, look for the signatures of those who have played it like Harry Connick, Jr., Billy Joel, Allen Toussaint, and Dr. John. A wonderful gallery to visit in a former art studio. A nice tribute to George Rodrigue and his beloved dog Tiffany, known forever as the Blue Dog.”

“There are so many galleries that line the French Quarter, but my eyes literally pulled me into this space! His paintings are so strong and powerful! Many different media, as well as sculptures, that the artist was in the middle of working in and creating. His works are so powerful and evocative, and the images stayed with me and I could still see them when I closed my eyes! Well worth a visit!!! Beautiful, unique and heart stopping!! I couldn’t take more photos inside because we were busy talking to the artist and truthfully, you need to go see his works for yourself!!!!!”

And the beautiful art makes for a one-of-a-kind souvenir. Be sure to check out their neighboring storefront next door, Le Jardin, which is in a beautiful courtyard!”
