It’s exactly the kind of cute quirky local pack and ship place I wish there were more of these days. Waiting in a corporate Fed-ex center etc is a chore. Pack Rat makes it cute and fun. The line goes by adorable souvenirs & practical things like office supplies. 100% yes to affordably priced holiday colored sharpies! I found it because my printer was down. It’s one of my new favorite places. Local Nola at its best. Growing up my Mom always called small businesses with heart and charm “we try harder places”. It’s not glossy, not corporate, it’s adorable and the kind of place we see all too often disappearing here. I went in low key grumpy & in a hurry, left with a big smile on my face.”

“I stopped by to find out about shipping items, if they could pack them, and to see if they had any postcards. My good friend Miss Eva was born in New Orleans nearly 80 years ago, and she now lives in California, so I wanted to make sure I sent her a card. They may have the best selection of postcards in New Orleans! And lots of fabulous items, like the mushroom lamp, and the Freddie Mercury and Harriet Tubman Saint candles. I use a Walker with a seat, because I have arthritis in my hips and spine and have to sit every few minutes. They have the saloon style Swinging Doors which are now my favorite, and one small step to get inside. And the aisles are wide enough to be able to navigate with a walker. There were many places in the French Quarter that I could get inside but then couldn't move around once I was in. This was not one of them. They did an outstanding job packing my two boxes. There were several breakables and nothing was broken! Such careful packing! Also they checked all their shipping options to see what was the cheapest for me. And they have free maps of the French Quarter, which would have been handier if I had discovered them before my last day there 😂 But the real joy was watching them interact with the locals, who they all knew by name, including their dogs! They have two sizes of dog treats, and every dog got one for free while I was there. One woman had a stroller with three chihuahuas, and the clerk made sure that the oldest toothless one got his treat! The other two were being a bit greedy. And such kindness to the young woman who needed some lyrics sheets printed! I had the pleasure of interacting with all three people working there on my three visits, and they were the epitome of kindness and patience with me. I am not the easiest customer, because I have brain damage, and I don't always understand what people are saying. And there were forms to fill out for the shipping, which are always a challenge for me. They made sure I understood the cost, and had me take photos of the printed labels for the tracking. I came to New Orleans for the music, the art, and the food, but time and again it was the wonderful people that took my breath away. This was my first trip to the city, and I'm going to do my best to go back as soon as I can afford it. If I do make it, I will be sure to go back to the French Quarter Postal Emporium.”

I bought the speakers sight unseen (off eBay - local pickup in NO) and had a friend pick them up and drop them off to New Orleans Packaging & Shipping. Never stepped foot in the store myself. After a few phone calls/emails I was able get my items shipped to me. Items arrived in perfect condition. It was so nice to do business a local company that cares about their work. If you live in NO (or anywhere in the the USA / globe) and have items that need shipped please use them! Please skip the large shipping retailers and give them a shot you will not regret it! “I’ve come here for years and have grown fond of Lisa cutting my hair! I would give this place 5 stars, but it drives me bananas when they ask if you want to leave a tip when paying with a credit card. They give you the receipt to sign and write it in regardless, so why ask? It’s tacky and most people would tip anyway. Just hand me the receipt and I’ll write your tip down instead of announcing it to the waiting room.”
