I was looking for a specific item that was not on the shelf and the manager stopped what she was doing to check in the back for it. “I love this store! Recently moved back home from Houston, lived in many different states and I can promise you, this is by far the best grocery store around! Beats H.E.B, a Texas chain, any day of the week! The pre seasoned meats, stuffed meats & variety local sausages are delicious. The deli has very fresh, delicious, daily plate lunches & a variety of their’s & other local premade chicken salads, cheese spreads, deserts etc. The produce is always fresh & clean, the whole store is always clean. Most of all, the pricing is fair! Some items might be a few cents more, but I’d rather buy from a local grocery that caters to the Cajun community than drive across town to a big grocery chain. Champagne’s has their loyalty program for groceries as well as for their plate lunches and honors store coupons. Everybody is really friendly, something that was very heart warming coming home to! I just cannot say enough good about this store. Thank you Abbeville for keeping a tried & true local grocery store in the community!!”

“March 20, 2021Hi my name is Joli and I had the pleasure of shopping at Dollar General located at 2030 Charity St., Abbeville, LA 70510. I’m not a patron of this location, but I am at another location. While I was on this side of the town I visited a nail salon where I inadvertently left my mobile phone. When I arrived home, I couldn’t find my phone, which is an iPhone 10, a $1200 device. Quickly, I began to back track, first your store. When I arrived the cashier who checked me out was gone for the day and his relief was at the register. I asked her if a phone was turned into the lost and found and she said not to her knowledge. I walked to the back of the store where there was a White gentleman unloading freight from the delivery truck, which I assumed was the SM. I asked him the same question I asked the cashier. He asked how long ago did I leave the store and I provided him an estimation. Before going to his office, he took the liberty of calling the relieved cashier and questioned him; in addition, he asked for my mobile number and used his personal phone to call my phone, while inside the store. Afterwards, he asked me to follow him to his office placing freight on the back burner. Meanwhile, he started to rewind the footage until he saw my vehicle pull into the parking lot. Looking at the footage it revealed I only walked into the store with keys and my debit card. While he was seated, I quickly and firmly patted him on the back and extend a sincere thank you. Next, I went back to the nail shop and my iPhone was given to a nail tech behind the register. In such chaotic, unprecedented, and “time is of the essence” world we live and work in we mostly witness, hear, experience, and remember bad customer service. In this scenario the customer service was deemed so great I researched a way to send a compliment instead of a complaint. The SM made my carelessness situation a dire need agenda. He could have easily said:1. if the cashier up front doesn’t know anything about the phone more than likely it wasn’t turned in2. the cashier who checked you out said, “No”3. ma’am I have freight to unload if we find it I’ll leave it behind the register or in my office.Typically, I look at name tags expecting to report bad, unethical, poor customer service, but he did what you don’t seldomly see in retail, and for that I feel horrible. Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
