Gumbo File is a souvenir and gift shop good for tourists. It offers inexpensive gifts, cheap souvenirs, and trinkets to bring back home. The store has a fairly wide selection including t-shirts, hippy style clothing, cool clothes, Mardi Gras dress-up items, cool masks, hats, and postcards. Prices can be a little elevated like other French Quarter shops, but some items are cheaper than elsewhere. Purchases are final.
This souvenir shop is dingy and dirty. I picked up a cookbook and it was covered with dirt. The lady behind the counter was talking on the speaker phone. Hard pass on this shop, as there are too many other gift and souvenir shops in the French Quarter.

While visiting my daughter and I found a penny stamping machine the clerk refused to exchange my change for quarters to use. Very unprofessional and rude
