Located on a 20-acre waterfront campus in historic Bath, Maine, Maine Maritime Museum is open year round. May through October, enjoy lighthouse cruises and sails aboard our tour boat, Merrymeeting. The BIW Story trolley tour provides an exclusive look at modern-day shipbuilding for the US Navy. Explore the historic Percy & Small Shipyard, learn about lobstering, see a blacksmith at work in his shop, and see boatbuilders at work in the Boatshop. Lots of hands-on activities for kids, including a Pirate Playship! There's so much to see, admission is good for two days. See why USA Today named Maine Maritime Museum the "Best Museum in Maine!"
The staff were exceptional and friendly. I enjoyed the historical and interactive areas, but my favorite display was Chris Van Dusen's! My boys (age 3 and 6) also loved the scavenger hunt, which added another layer to the experience because they paid closer attention to the displays that weren't Chris Van Dusen's.
