A Hidden Gem Worth the Drive
Wow—pulled pork with bourbon BBQ sauce and Jersey-style fair fries? Just take all my money already.
This place is an absolute hidden gem. The only downside? It’s nearly a two-hour drive from home, and that’s just cruel.
I was in Cumberland for a business trip when someone recommended this spot. From the outside, it’s unassuming, but the food? Incredible. I ordered the pulled pork, and it was so good I seriously considered grabbing another before heading out.
On top of the amazing food, the staff were absolutely lovely. Their warmth and friendliness made the experience even better, and I’m so grateful for their hospitality. If you’re anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and go. You won’t regret it.”
“They serve Chester's chicken which is always a quick, affordable meal. They have a wide selection of other meals they serve from their kitchen as well as a daily listed prominently on a chalk board when you first enter. They sell beer as well as hard liquor.”
“Love it! We’ve been coming since they open and love it. Coffee and bagels (charred onion cream cheese is outstanding) are excellent, great baked goods. Fish sandwich is wonderful for lunch or dinner. So happy these guys opened up in this spot - great addition to SoFree, ME.”
“There are so many things this place offers it's truly shocking. They'll make you a meal, & Take out if you call ahead it will be ready for you. I'm not a huge fan of Green Mountain Coffee but I liked it, it works for me. They do have groceries I stick to the essentials. Party platters, bags of ice, drinks things to snack on... if you really need some fishing things they have some supplies however I don't know if they sell licenses, as well as propane. I ran across these people a few months ago and wow super super nice Folk. The woman I spoke to told me they did not sell soft drinks out of a fountain and so I couldn't just go in and get some ice but then she shared some of her personal ice with me and after that I'll never forget her. It seems like everybody knows everybody that's there but since I'm not from the state of maine..... I went outside and got myself a few pair of socks and gave it to the ladies that were there. I wanted to come back and talk to one of them about her Heritage in her family and how that very prosperous and well-known person affected her life today and yesterday I just haven't done it yet. “Joined the Irving app and it's pretty nice. Get a discount and a super easy payment process. This place is easy to get in and out of and the store clerks are pleasant enough. Good prices and good experience what more could you ask for.”
“Food is good....usually.. Hope you don't like it or our community. There's a McDonald's down at Exit 48. We'd prefer you go there and save us the further descent into Urban Sprawl and squalor too many support and can't seem to correctly identify as continued human error.

“The staff in this CVS are available when you need help. I observed the pharmacist speaking with customers, and I also observed a pharmacy tech speaking with customers. I, myself, did not use the pharmacy, but I did take note of how the customers were treated so very well and with respect. There was also communication in a friendly manner.
That is so very important to those of us who don’t feel well or anxious about our conditions. It was not only good customer service. It was an observation of people being very kind to one another. Very best to all”
“This place has such a great atmosphere and always good vibes when you walk in. It’s got everything you’d expect from a convenience store, plus a gas station, which makes it super convenient.
They’ve got fresh hot coffee, made-to-order subs and pizza, and even some bakery items. Plenty of drinks, snacks, and all the usual essentials too.
What really makes it stand out is the staff!They’re incredibly friendly. I’ve been going there for years, and some of them even know me by name.
Definitely a great spot to stop in, say hello, and grab something for the go!”

Spending money or having the intent too does not mean your complaints are reasonable. If you're an adult complaining about coffee not being available you could have brewed yourself etc., you need to think harder on whats really worth complaining about.”
“The crown jewel of Pownal’s celebrated downtown district. Keeping us locals gassed up and supplied with cheap coffee and snacks. Recently renovated and upgraded to include a bigger selection of local beers, which if you’re gonna gentrify slowly, that’s just the price we’ll have to pay.”

“Pretty solid option for a corner store. But some of the pre-made choices got me wondering. They sold me a BBQ rib sandwich and it had cheese on it. Who puts cheese on a BBQ rib sandwich!? Its not like you can open up the food and inspect it for ingredients when its in the warmer. That was terrible. Waste of money. I can't trust that the store produces edible and savory hot foods after that visit.”

“I just visited Nouria in Falmouth for the first time. I was looking for a coffee and met Cristos, a delightful employee. He helped me with all of the machines and suggested a coffee flavor. He was so pleasant and helpful. I went to pay and he had taken care of it for me. It touched my heart to see kindness like that today. I will be back for sure and will now “Pay Forward “ as well.”

“If you want a snack late on Christmas night in Freeport, this is going to be your place. This Circle K was sold out of most things late that evening (likely, from others in my position), but I was able to rally together a sausage breakfast burrito and a packet of extra sugary honey roasted peanuts. The employee on call was very friendly. Would recommend dropping by if you are in a similar position!”
“The new kid David that works there as excellent customer service! I was in there during the five Rush so the line was backed up. He remained leasant the whole time with a smile (which I'm sure is hard to do) I have been in there with other cashiers at this time of day and they have been miserable in this situation.”

“Great traveling in and out location, easy interstate stop no wait. Great stop and amazingly friendly cashier. Bathrooms were outside, but after working 2 years for a gas station, they were very nice for outside access bathrooms. Bathrooms are also unlocked unless in use which was awesome!! No going in to ask for a key and waste time.”

The Walgreens app immediately notified me that they had received the request and were working on it. I called the Pharmacy with some questions and received very helpful and also very kind assistance. They worked to have the prescription filled fast which I very much appreciated. My impression is that the customer service here is becoming a big focus and its showing.”

“I’ve lived in the area for about ten years and NYV has always been a staple for me and my family over that decade. We grab pizza and sandwiches often for dinner - their smoked meats are killer! The staff are down to earth and very friendly too. Whether grabbing gas or taking an order over the phone, they always do their best to serve you right.
Quick story about how awesome this place is…I just got back from Hannaford and realized I didn’t get onions, which I desperately needed for dinner. They could’ve said no we don’t sell onions but instead they weighed out three huge white onions and sent me on my way. Saved me a good 30min round trip back to the market! Nicest people I’ve ever met and I’d gladly patron them for as long as we live here.”
