“Habitat for humanity was a good. Their manager took care of an issue with me after one of their employees did not look out for the best for me. I really appreciate what he did and I hope everybody that goes there has the same experience.”

“I adopted a cat from them and the experience was great, and I love my new cat. The adoption process was thorough enough to be sure the cats are going to a good home, but it was also simple and quickly processed. They were very helpful and it was hard to choose a cat since there were so many cute and sweet cats. They had free roam rooms and the cats were well cared for and healthy.”

“This is a wonderful helping organizations for the Munjoy Hill area. They have many services for the many immigrants or for anybody that lives in the area. They have job training classes, English as a second language classes, sewing classes, programs for kids and after school homework help. They also have a dental clinic. The people that work there have a heart for people and it really shows.”

“I went here for a puppet show with my son. I was very impressed with the performance, layout of the seating, acoustics and sound quality and the "feel" of the building. I'll be checking their calendar and planning to attend more events here throughout the year.”

The owners and director are truly amazing people that helped push me forward in my recovery, And I am beyond grateful for everything PP has given me…a great recovery foundation and fellowship that I didn’t think existed. If anyone is in need of sober living, look no further. Truly a great place to start a journey in recovery.”

“The GMRI is a fascinating place and a decidedly wonderful addition to the Portland waterfront. The programming they offer to local middle school students is exceptional and their new interactive learning lab, complete with a large observation tank, is state of the art. I found myself wishing that there was programming available to the general public. Every year, the GMRI holds a seafood celebration. I was lucky enough to attend this year. There were three floors of local chefs sharing their best seafood creations. Holding this event on all three floors, naturally walked guests through their facility, which I have to say, is extremely impressive. Their building itself, sits right on the working waterfront, with wonderful views and big tall windows to let in all the light. On the ground floor is the learning lab. Sitting inside the lab, with the tank on your left and the wall sized screen playing a video on local aquatic life, you could imagine yourself on a learning vessel, working and learning alongside marine biologists. The fare at the seafood celebration was pretty epic. There were haddock sliders, fish tacos and the most incredible scallop crudo. There were also bowls set out on communal tables of home made potato chips and onion dip, which had nothing to do with seafood, but were stand outs as well. Overall, this is a fascinating place that does great work and the GMRI seafood celebration is one of the rare times, the public is invited in for a view and some delicious apps. Well worth scoring a ticket or two next year!”

“My main commuter bike had been used and abused for many years without any TLC, so I ended up bringing it to the gearhub for a complete overhaul: new shifters, brakes, cables and housing, etc. They were able to get the work done very quickly, and now my bike is running perfectly. They also were able to source used components to bring the cost done. They were also very communicative and transparent about their timeline, costs, etc. Thanks gearhub!”

“our daughter went to Catherine Morrill for a year and we had a wonderful experience. The teachers were kind, compassionate, and focused. The school uses the BrightWheel app incredibly well, giving updates and photos throughout the day and communicating when we needed to resupply or if something was going on. It is a great place and we highly recommend it”

“CIEE was a great choice for me when choosing to teach abroad. It was something I wanted to do for a few years. After researching several other teach abroad programs, CIEE offered the best value for my money. Once accepted into the program the hand-holding began with detailed steps and timelines. Believe me this is what you want when moving overseas. Take the time to read and re-read everything CIEE sends your way. It is super helpful and eased a lot of nerves when it came to the process. Once in country, expect the same helpfulness and knowledge.”

“I was visiting Portland and this YMCA was a 5 minute walk for me. I visited at 7-8am on weekdays for the cardio and gym room. Mostly empty at these times and the staff was extremely friendly. The equipment was pretty good for the price, had all the essential machines with squat and bench rack. One time visit was $12.”

“What's a hour exchange? A bank for time? Best concept ever, you need to find out where everyone really is equal, generosity and reciprocity are valued and you matter. My building skills are equal to your cooking skills are equal to your pet watching ability. Call and get info, you'll be thrilled you did.”

“If I could give a million stars...There's so much to say about this organization and all they've done for myself and others, no words are expressive enough to explain the depths of care and generosity I've experienced.A buisness though is only brick and mortar, the true gems are the staff, there's two of them in particular that have gone above and beyond to help me help myself and I'm eternally grateful .As so many of us struggle these days I encourage you to reach out, they saved my life, enhanced my days, held my hand and encouraged my dreams of the future.Thank-you InnesThank-you Sam”

“Never had a problem, been going here since 1998. Best part was the bobble heads in the office. Could watch them to keep your mind off being stabbed with a sharp needle. BUT some grinch complained and made them get rid of them all. Maybe instead of complaining, y’all could have some compassion for your fellow humans doing the best they can in an ungrateful and hateful atmosphere.”
