“The owners are a very lovely couple and they have a huge assortment of wines and just about evey top shelf liquor one would want! Definitely a stop if your in Westbrook Maine”
“Lots of cheeses, folks are very knowledgeable on cheese, I can't eat cheese but my dad loves fancy cheeses and they're always super helpful when figuring out what I should surprise him with next”
8AM - 5:30PM
45 India St, Portland“Good little Italian market in town. Easy to get to and they have parking on site. Good selection of Italian staples like cherry peppers, san marzano tomatoes, Caputo flour, prosciutto, and more.”
“Most people visit The Cheese Iron for their sandwiches (understandably so; we’ve had them, and they are delicious!), but for me, the beauty of this place is in its cheese and deli meats. We make a lot of fresh pasta at home, and they always have the freshest ingredients to take our recipe to the next level. For example, many Italian recipes call for guanciale (Italian cured pork), and we could never find it locally until we visited The Cheese Iron. We had to settle for pancetta until we found this gem of a spot.Their focaccia and baguettes are delicious, and their cheeses are always fresh. They also are the only place we’ve seen locally that carries Lioni Latticini burrata, which is, without a doubt, the best burrata we’ve ever tried. We stopped buying commercial burrata altogether after trying that brand. Plus, their customer service is unmatched — everyone is always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Those little (and big!) elements continue to bring us back to The Cheese Iron.I’m so, so happy The Cheese Iron exists in Scarborough.”
“Bought a nice Vermentino from the shop today. Selection is really impressive and the shop itself is beautiful. Owner was helpful and it was fun hearing how the shop came to be. Will definitely be stopping in again!”
“Breakfast, lunch or dinner Patch's has you covered. Awesome breakfast menu. The best lobster salad roll . Lobster salad roll voted number 1, 2023 and many other years. Very affordable menu .”
“I love shopping for all my specialty drinks here. They have a great variety and they seem to be the only one around that let's you buy mix packs so you can try one of something before you buy an entire 4-pack of something.”
“I have a new favorite bourbon. New England Distillery makes an incredible, smooth and balanced bourbon with Tidewalker. And I had a chance to meet Ned, the owner and master distiller. Awesome guy. You gotta check them out!”
“Not so much about the shop, but the owner, a kind and generous man who came to the rescue of myself and my daughter and gave us a lift to our hotel. Jaques, if you see this, NZ lost, Portland won.Thank you.”
“Great place for a craft beer. Stopped in while shopping. Service is good, helpful with picking out just the right beer. Large outdoor seating area that would be great in the summer.”
“Great selection and the prices are better than the other options. Lots of great Maine micros and nanos. I got some Allagash, Michaud et Filles, Barreled Souls and others.”
“Great places to buy your pops and pours and more. The customer service was great. I recall speaking to Griffin, he verified my request was available, the other staff answered questions and provided great suggestions. Thank you for the great service and variety.”
“Pleasantly surprised! The store seemed modestly stocked with wine selections but I bought a mix of 12+ bottles. The employee was helpful and knowledgeable. The choices were very good.I only go to Gorham a few times a year, but if they’re considering expanding, Mill Creek (SoPo) could use a store like this”
12 - 8PM
299 Forest Ave, Portland“I highly recommend stopping in here if you haven't already. They've got the biggest and best selection in town, easily. A ton of local beers, meads, ciders, wines, and even non-alcoholic beers for you to choose from. They also stock plenty of out of state and imported beers. The friendly staff will always have multiple suggestions for you if you need help making a decision. You can also buy single cans of beers you just want to try without investing in an entire four pack. On top of all that, they've got a rewards program. Awesome.”
“Pulled in early morning about 01:00. Gate closed so parked on the side just before inbound gate. Backed into door at 08:00 and unloaded by 09:00. No-touch freight and no-contact delivery. No real check-in, just set bills in trailer then back in. Green-red-green, pull out and signed bills are in trailer. (I had beer and used the first docks on left as you pull in through the gate.) Drive around to the left and behind building to exit-gate. Had to wait-to-drive after so pull along the right after the exit gate is ok per instruction on warehouse door.Efficient and moved right along. As deliveries go this one is excellent. I would definitely come here again. Thanks Nappi, good job!!”
“Super friendly service and a nice selection of local beers. Variety is the spice of life, and so it is with a good package store. The staff are really helpful, prices competitive, and they give a small discount if you order more than a case.”
“If you're looking for a beverage to strike your fancy, you've come to the right place. Not only does Bier Cellar West have a great selection, they're knowledgeable and friendly as well! My husband is a bit of a bier connoisseur. They have provided excellent advice in finding unique biers. Also, we did the advent bier calendar this year and it was a great way to try a bunch of new beverages. If bier is not your bevy of choice, they have an excellent selection of wine, hard seltzer, and hard cider. Stop in and check it out!”
“Such a cute market with a little something for everyone. Great place to grab a unique gift in a pinch and an easy way to shop local/support small business. Will definitely be back!”
4:30 - 9:30PM
68 Commercial St, Portland“The food is outstanding! We ordered four different dishes and all were delicious and cooked to perfection. Incredible wine list and decor. The staff is thoughtful, friendly, knowledgeable and make the experience even better. We traveled from Boston for the second time in 6 months just to have dinner here! If you have never been you should run. Make reservations at least 2 months ahead. Yes, it is that good!”
“Extremely helpful and friendly staff, especially the resident staff dog Ruby. Seriously they're lovely people, never had anything but a wonderful, professional, and prompt experience there. Great prices and a great selection. Also a good little boat beer fridge with constantly changing options for those of us of the island persuasion.”
6AM - 9PM
318 Main St, Cumberland“This isn't just a convenience store, but also a full deli, so it's one of the few inexpensive options for a quick bite to eat on this side of town. They even had ready-made pizze available to grab by the slice when I stopped by, but the made-to-order menu, which included panini, wraps, and burgers, looked more appealing to me.Indeed, a solid choice. A chicken parmesan sandwich, for example, was a nicely fried, nicely sized portion for a reasonable $9.99 price. Add plenty of drinks and snacks to choose from and you've got a nicely self-catered lunch. The only drawback might be a lack of seating outside, but there was generally enough space in their parking lot for folks to eat in their cars or to take things out. A solid find thanks to a serendipitous search of Google Maps while on a day trip exploring Maine coastal towns.”
“What an incredible find. The owners took time out of their busy holiday schedule to entertain some questions and wine conversation. I will definitely be stopping back here. I only wish I lived closer! An amazing selection with the knowledge and passion to back it up.”
“Just found out about these guys and I'm super bummed to be seeing it go! I hope they still make their drinks in some way for people to buy because there's nothing quite like that around. Delicious and intriguing flavors, and plenty for those who don't drink alcohol as well.”
9AM - 10PM
50 Wharf St, Portland“Food was delicious and so were the drinks. Our server didn’t inform us that the Caesar salad (instead of fries) for my sandwich was an extra $5 - which I wish was mentioned. But it was delicious.”
“Great experience once again with this butcher! The gentleman (Rob?) behind the counter took his time helping me, and (by extension) guiding me to what I believe to be the best dang rack of ribs I have ever had… Slow roasted to perfection… wow…I will definitely be back, thank you Rob!!”
“I had to make sure the business gets five stars because of Wendy W, the miserable woman who slams every small business like she's better than everyone else. A quick, easy stop that's efficient for my "filler" grocery stops. I enjoy the fact you see young people working in the community. Could it have a little improvement with customer service? Sure, I guess but that's what comes with teenagers getting their first jobs- at least they're learning for their future. Good selection of food and I like the local products that are available.”
11AM - 9PM
37 Exchange St, Portland“I have only stopped in for a beer a couple of times.Very good, potent beer.Just tell them what you are looking for and they will point you in the right direction.”
“The very best - and consistently good - fresh coffee in the area - better than Starbucks (which I actually like a lot). Also, it is OPEN! The Yelp notice that it's closed is incorrect as of this date (June 1, 2023).”
“Excellent customer service, the people who work there are courteous and know your order even before I ask. It is my go to place for a number of things. Check this place out if you are in Westbrook/Portland area.”
