This is not my first time at this particular Whole Foods but it will be my last. Despite having a good selection of meats I was very uncomfortable during my entire shopping experience. I was watched, followed from a distance (everytime I looked up it there was the same female security guard) she wasnt even trying to hide and finally I just cut my shopping short, paid for the food and left. Even the older African American man in meat dept was rude to me but showed every tooth for the woman of a different race that was waited on before me. Its so hard to prove that these micro aggressions exist because there are so many ways to turn it back on the victim but I have owned and operated my own business for over 15 years and have shopped in stores all over the country. I KNOW what good service, bad service, profiling and general security checks look like.
Then, I checked the reviews for this store and low and behold its NOT just ME. SEE THE PHOTO review from another shopper OVER A YEAR AGO with the 12 likes! I Think its disgusting and I certainly wont be spending my hard earned money here.
UPDATE:
I returned this Saturday morning (today) to see if anything changed after legnthy conversations with management earlier this week.
I dont know if its the Saturday staff or if there was a big meeting but when I tell you that this was a 100% totally different experience.
I have to acknowledge my cashier who was proud to say shes been with the company since it was Fresh Fields and Brandon in the fish department. They were both knowledgeable, fast and friendly.
They made this experience memorable enough for me to reconsider my boycott of this market and my Google rating.
