“I highly recommend Brightstart to any parent looking at daycare options in the Petworth/Brightwood Park area. Outside of its incredible staff and facility, the fact that families don't need to provide daily/weekly items such as milk, sheets, diapers, and food, etc. really set Brightstart apart for us. We had daily interactions with our daughter's teachers, who helped coach our daughter (and us) through so many transitions. The teachers were also great at posting daily pictures and coming up with creative activities to make each day a little different, but still adhering to a routine (e.g. learning to play soccer, group music classes). We also loved the amount of time that our daughter spent outside in their covered and fenced playground.”

TJ and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how incredible both Helena and Kathleen have been with our son. As you know our lives have been totally flipped upside down with this insurance claim and hotel life. Being at school is like a second home for our so. Over the summer he had so much anxiety with the changes of being at school and away from us. Helena and Kathleen suggested we keep him a kitten until December while he got his footing. Since they were familiar faces and everything in his home life would be unfamiliar it seemed like the logical choice going into the school year and it turned out to be the best choice we’ve made.

He is thriving with them. He loves his friends his has made, he sings his ABCs, he counts to 10, he tells us all about his day and loves looking at all of his pictures from the day when he gets home. From being scared to walk into the building and throwing up every day from anxiety to asking to see his teachers and friends when we are at home. We couldn’t have asked for better teachers and we really felt it in our hearts to let you and Michael know just how incredible these two women are. Teachers are some of the most undervalued people and we are sure to a lot of families you guys are just a place to just drop off their kids while they are working but for us we wanted a place where our son could feel like it was his second home. Helena and Kathleen have taken such care and time with him and worked with him at his pace to build trust. The other day I was moved to tears when I got a video of him painting by himself for the first time. There has been a lot of darknesses lately but these two ladies have helped give us so much light and we are truly grateful. We are so incredibly sad that his time as a kitten is winding down but we will be forever grateful to them for giving him a strong springboard into his education. These things really do matter.

Thank you so much Goddard and the Kittens class for allowing our sweet boy the space to grow and feel safe and for giving us his parents the comfort knowing that he is ok, and that with love and guidance at Goddard the sky is the limit. Our hearts are full. At a time when so much seems so unsure this just seems so right. We are forever grateful, thank you for this. These teachers should be celebrated to the max. “I cannot say enough wonderful things about Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda. The teachers truly care about the children. Both of our kids were always so excited to see their teachers and classmates at drop off and were smiling just as much at pickup. We started off with a 2 year old at Primrose, who went through preK, and when our second child was born we started him as an infant without hesitation, since we knew he would be so well cared for. All the teachers, even those who never specifically had our kids, knew our children’s names. Our kids grew here in terms of their education, but even more important to us, was that they were safe and loved while they learned. “We enrolled our daughter here when she was just about 2 years old. As many parents, I was extremely nervous and hesitant. However, from the very beginning the staff was extremely personable and reassuring. As a mom, you want to feel that your child is safe, loved, and in a nurturing environment. The staff here made sure that we felt reassured and confident that our daughter was in good hands which made the transition easier.

Since starting here, I have noticed greatly how our daughter has had tremendous growth in not only her developmental skills but also her social skills. My daughter lights up and smiles every time she sees her teacher, and I appreciate that the other teachers also know and acknowledge her. The school is always very clean and sanitary, which gives me peace of mind as a parent because tiny humans somehow attract germs like they’re running a scientific experiment sponsored by applesauce and coughs. I also really appreciate how hands-on the directors are. I also love the learning curriculum they provide. “We sent our 12 month old here for backup care for a few days while his regular daycare was closed. We were nervous at first because he is usually in an in home daycare and didn’t have any experience in a larger facility, but this facility and its staff were amazing and very welcoming. They took great care to review my son’s intake forms and ask questions about his preferences and schedule. We loved the app and getting regular detailed updates on how his day was going. He ate regularly and really enjoyed playing with new friends and toys. He even picked up a few new skills in only 2 days! When we picked him up he was happy and his usual joyful self which told us he had a good time. We’re grateful for the teachers and staff at this center for taking great care of our son and we’re eager to send him here for more backup care days in the future!”

“We've been a Primrose School of Arlington family since they opened their doors in 2021. Over the years, the school has shown so much love and devotion to our son, with great teachers who have been part of our village and taught him so much. The school changed ownership in the spring, but the strong leadership team has largely stayed the same, and we have only positive things to say about the new ownership. The new owners appear to strive to listen to feedback from parents and implement positive changes, like reduced closure days and additional fun events like family picnics and Parents Night Out, in addition to structural changes like offering weekly payment options in response to parent requests. We're very happy with the school and are sending our second child shortly!”

“Our son attended Busy Bee for 20 months and we are so sad to leave due to an out of state move. If we could take Busy Bee with us to our new home, we would! “As a first time parent I was very hesitant to move forward with any daycare. Period. We explored other options but couldn't find one that met our families needs. Daycare was the only solution. “My two children have been at Merit School for the past 4 years, and I truly couldn’t be more grateful. My son has now transferred to elementary school, but he still talks about Merit and misses everyone so much. I honestly believe Merit School is the reason he loved going to school every single day with happiness and confidence. My daughter is still attending Merit, and she started when she was only 5 months old , now she is already 2 years old. “I greatly appreciate the staff at Academy at Galway. I was nervous about my free spirited, yet shy toddler going to pre-k after always being home with family and having one on one attention. She can be emotional and quiet. However the decision to send her was not that hard because I have had experience with Academy at Galway many years ago when my now 16 year old daughter attended. I can say I am extremely grateful and happy I made the decision to send my daughter. Just like many years ago the staff there are amazing. The nervousness I felt went away quickly. The director was extremely understanding with how nervous I was and answered all of my emails and questions. The staff kept me updated especially her first few weeks. They’re attentive. They didn’t get upset that she was more emotional and scared in the beginning. They were patient with her and as a mother that’s all I could ask for. Knowing my child is being well cared for when I am not around. My daughter comes home everyday and is excited to tell me about her day. She may have days where she’s upset that things didn’t go her way but she is learning about being kind, sharing, boundaries. All of the things she needs to be successful as she moves to kindergarten. On weekends she counts down the days until it “almost a school day!” The teachers have been helpful with my concerns and they communicate often. My shy little girl is more outgoing and now super talkative.”

My daughter started at 2 years old did her final potty training here , has learned all her number , colors and even a little bit of sign language. The staff are amazing !!
