“A letter we wrote to the director sums up our review…. TJ and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how incredible both Helena and Kathleen have been with our son. As you know our lives have been totally flipped upside down with this insurance claim and hotel life. Being at school is like a second home for our so. Over the summer he had so much anxiety with the changes of being at school and away from us. Helena and Kathleen suggested we keep him a kitten until December while he got his footing. Since they were familiar faces and everything in his home life would be unfamiliar it seemed like the logical choice going into the school year and it turned out to be the best choice we’ve made. He is thriving with them. He loves his friends his has made, he sings his ABCs, he counts to 10, he tells us all about his day and loves looking at all of his pictures from the day when he gets home. From being scared to walk into the building and throwing up every day from anxiety to asking to see his teachers and friends when we are at home. We couldn’t have asked for better teachers and we really felt it in our hearts to let you and Michael know just how incredible these two women are. Teachers are some of the most undervalued people and we are sure to a lot of families you guys are just a place to just drop off their kids while they are working but for us we wanted a place where our son could feel like it was his second home. Helena and Kathleen have taken such care and time with him and worked with him at his pace to build trust. The other day I was moved to tears when I got a video of him painting by himself for the first time. There has been a lot of darknesses lately but these two ladies have helped give us so much light and we are truly grateful. We are so incredibly sad that his time as a kitten is winding down but we will be forever grateful to them for giving him a strong springboard into his education. These things really do matter. Thank you so much Goddard and the Kittens class for allowing our sweet boy the space to grow and feel safe and for giving us his parents the comfort knowing that he is ok, and that with love and guidance at Goddard the sky is the limit. Our hearts are full. At a time when so much seems so unsure this just seems so right. We are forever grateful, thank you for this. These teachers should be celebrated to the max. They are the reason we stayed at Goddard!!!”

“I highly recommend Brightstart to any parent looking at daycare options in the Petworth/Brightwood Park area. Outside of its incredible staff and facility, the fact that families don't need to provide daily/weekly items such as milk, sheets, diapers, and food, etc. really set Brightstart apart for us. We had daily interactions with our daughter's teachers, who helped coach our daughter (and us) through so many transitions. The teachers were also great at posting daily pictures and coming up with creative activities to make each day a little different, but still adhering to a routine (e.g. learning to play soccer, group music classes). We also loved the amount of time that our daughter spent outside in their covered and fenced playground.”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda. The teachers truly care about the children. Both of our kids were always so excited to see their teachers and classmates at drop off and were smiling just as much at pickup. We started off with a 2 year old at Primrose, who went through preK, and when our second child was born we started him as an infant without hesitation, since we knew he would be so well cared for. All the teachers, even those who never specifically had our kids, knew our children’s names. Our kids grew here in terms of their education, but even more important to us, was that they were safe and loved while they learned. Our family recommends this school without hesitation and are so grateful for our time there.”

“Northeast Stars is wonderful. We had some issues with a previous daycare and decided to switch and we immediately saw improvement in our little man. He had been on the verge of talking for a couple months and within a month of NE Stars his talking greatly improved. He has become so self sufficient and I contribute that to NE Stars. He is excited to go to “school” every day and it is comforting to know he is somewhere safe where he can grow and build relationships with his friends. The staff are extremely flexible and communicate everything efficiently - you never feel out of the loop. We are honestly sad to be leaving for Pre-K 3. If you are looking for a daycare with a safe, structured environment this is the place for you and your little one.”

“We had our son in pre-K here during the pandemic, and our daughter in the program Estrellitas started to enable kids to do remote learning with supervision. Our kids learned a ton of Spanish, and did art, games, walks in the woods, field trips, and playgrounds throughout the pandemic. Their staff is incredibly committed and hard-working, and showed up to help our kids throughout the pandemic when other people did not. I would recommend the program to anyone, and will definitely have my kids back for their summer program and school breaks.”
