This Walgreens Pharmacy in downtown Boston is a large, unique flagship store located in the historic former Boston Five Cents Savings Bank building. The space is massive, spanning two floors with an elaborate architectural restoration that preserves vintage details like marble floors, ornamental brass, and a golden clock. It combines the feel of an upscale department store from the past with a modern, contemporary drugstore. The store offers a wide selection, functioning as a convenience store and a quick all-in-one stop with grab-and-go food, chilled items, snacks, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruits, and vegetables. It also carries regular drugstore items, prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, health and personal care supplies, household products, boutique skincare, beauty brands, and Boston souvenirs. However, the layout receives criticism for being horrible and confusing, with a cramped elevator and items like certain lotions locked under security while other expensive brands are openly displayed. The checkout counters are on the first floor, and the second floor can feel understaffed, though helpful staff are noted elsewhere. The store’s history is a point of interest, as it was previously a Borders bookstore, and the third floor is now a package store. While some customers report quick and easy service, others express frustration with product availability and accessibility. Overall, it provides a distinctive shopping experience that blends history, convenience, and a broad retail selection in a downtown urban setting.
Surprised by how big this particular walgreens is. Lots of helpful staff. However they were out of the cough drops that I was looking for (with Pectin).

I was in Boston for a few days in early October and needed a few things for my stay. A convenient location with a good selection of chilled items and snacks. This location has two floors and it might be one of the nicer Walgreens I've visited. Anyway, quick and easy checkout and I was on my merry way.

At least they were open, got there after visiting three 7/11's that were closed at 10:00pm. The late night selection is low, lots of empty places on the shelves. Got what I needed and got out.
