“They have an adorable children's section with great books. They have a "growing up" bookshelf with tons of useful books with sweet messages. Staff was very friendly but not overbearing.”

“A nice bookstore with lots of books and crannies stuffed with books. Used books and clearance are downstairs with new books, notebooks, puzzles, and gifts upstairs. There's a rewards program. The prices for used books are a little high - the Alice book I purchased was a bit over half of the original price of $16 with visible wear and tear. However you could spend lots of time looking in both floors. (Note that there are only stairs to get down.) It is quite crowded but the staff is friendly and helpful. Of course there are a lot of things in the area and it's worth a stop.”

“This bookstore focuses books published by MIT press and curated titles. It’s a “smart people bookstore,” with books that make you think and learn. The shop is down in a basement and I got lost in reading the backs of books, time marked only by the overhead rumble of the red line. The books here are niche enough that there are only occasionally copies at the local libraries, so I do end up spending money here rather than getting it at the library. There’s also a kids book section that has some excellent variety: I can do all my holiday shopping between this bookstore and the MIT Museum gift shop upstairs.”

“I always think that a bookseller who knows their inventory is a true gem, and today I found gems at I AM books.I particularly came all the way from Fenway (where I am staying for only two days, I live in Maryland!) To see this bookstore that everyone wrote such beautiful reviews about, and what a delight it was for me to discover this beautiful Italian neighborhood in addition to that.I met Adele and Michela (apologies for misspellings in advance to both!) Who helped me find books from authors I loved and beyond, I asked them so many questions and they let me browse for so long, they didn't seem to mind my messy coat and bag (that I threw on the floor to get to books!) And they were beyond understanding and helpful when they found out I can't take back stuff with me and agreed to mail them to me.The selection is not huge but very decent, especially for lovers of Italian Literature, history and poetry. In addition to all of that there are so many types of cute stationary items, which in my opinion are rare in America (everyone seems to be happy with office max pens and paper, so apparently they don't need beautiful things to write with).Great kids selection, many souvenir type items! These guys even gave me suggestions about which Cafe to go to that's best for reading ?Cannot wait to go back sometime in the future!”

“I love this little bookshop and visit it often! Great selection of all kinds of books with fair prices, and you can sell used books here too. They have a great inventory of gifts and puzzles as well. The owners are really nice and knowledgeable, and they have a good rewards program. This has become my go-to shop for buying books!”

“Lala books has a cozy feel, plenty of variety especially for children and young adults, with a selection of local authors/ interest and fiction. I love to bring my kids to browse and buy books they read over and over again!”

“A friend recommended this book shop to me and I'm so glad she did. The atmosphere here is incredible. I love the tall wooden shelves. I have found poetry, creative nonfiction, short stories, manga, LGBTQ+ stories, scifi, and much more. The gently used books are in great shape. They take book donations in exchange for store credit, which is awesome. The staff are helpful and chatty. This is my go-to place when I'm getting gifts for people. Look at this cool wolf book I got a bit ago!”

“Wonderful community bookstore, everyone I interacted with was so lovely and nice, the café even had half-caf iced coffee which absolutely made my day. It wasn’t even that expensive.”

“After a walk around the pond 1.7 miles I get to stop in to the Society Shop at Walden and get a cold drink, browse thru the books and spend a few minutes with the folks behind the counter. A great place, very warm people. Thanks for being there!”

“This a great store, been in business for decades. Stuart is great as are all the employees. They will look things up, engage in dynamic conversation and the other customers are knowledgeable and friendly as well. One of my favorite stores in the Boston area, they will even order books for you. I it!”

“This store sells products and souvenirs with the theme of MIT, which is a research center of the highest level in the world, considered a leader in technology. They sell keychains, caps, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, gloves, USB drives, among a variety of products. the prices...just like the rest of the state of Massachusetts, they are high prices. The clothes are made in other countries such as the Republica del Salvador, China y otros, however they are of very good quality.”

“The staff here are very nice and super helpful! I was looking for a air fryer cookbook for my roommate and two of the staff helped me search through their cooking section for it. When we couldn’t find it, they looked on the computer and even went to the back room to find a copy for me. 10/10 customer service :)”

“lovely little bookstore and cafe! i had the french toast bagel which was so tasty. I really enjoyed the staff picks book section because sometimes its just hard to know what to read. will definitely be on my list if im in the area again”

“Helpful staff will point you to the section you want, but don't necessarily expect the particular book you seek. It's not a new book store; it's a used book store, so they're limited to what comes in. That said, they have a terrific, wide selection.”

“I knocked on the door not knowing that it was pickup only. The person who answered was very kind and when I asked politely told me that it was online order only.”

“I've easily spent hours here, skimming through poetry books. It's always interesting because what I end up buying reflects my mood of that day. Nice place to get inspired, and reflect and read. They have contemp poetry, a translated section, a lot from local poets, the selection feels infinite sometimes lol. The man who manages the store asked me if I was a poet once - which was cool, because I write sometimes but only for myself. The manager, himself, is a published poet. And they do readings here from time to time too. You can definitely find books in every price range. This shop is probably the best thing Harvard square has to offer. Love love love.”

“I love going to the Audubon shop, there is so much to choose from. In my complex, we have quite a few young families; the children's section covers all a ages, and the sooner you get a youngster into nature the better for all of us. The staff is amazing, and are more than willing to aid you in some specific situations. The trails are easy, even for a geezer like me. Take your time, listen, look, feel the nature that surrounds you. Take pictures, leave with memories and if you see trash, pick it up. Above all, enjoy!”

“The staff was flexible and able to accommodate my requests. They were able to check the supply closets to assist me in finding what I was looking for. However, the products, specifically the t-shirts, were rather expensive as compared to the other institutions I have visited.”

“Delightful place and people (or maybe I was just starved for conversation with some fellow designers?) Either way, thank you for providing the opportunity, Michael!!”

“Cute bookstore. Stopped in while on a work trip to the area. The book store itself is rather small but they have hundreds of books cataloged in the back so all you have to do is have them look it up for you. They also have local seasoning, crafts, and more displayed around the shop for purchase. I was able to get the book I was looking for along with some Zatar seasoning. It was a win win for me. Would definitely come back to find a new book or just to see what they have that's new. Part of the proceeds also go to a worthy cause of youth education and literacy so that makes it even better. Will definitely return!”

“Harvard galore. Great bookstore. This is a very large multi level store with lots of school merchandise. I think that of all the local stores in the area the Harvard Coop has the best selection. The checkout lines look long and intimidating but they move very quick.”

“Store is well organized, I did wish there were a few more affordable options for Sweatshirts, one alone was $80. They do have almost everything one would need if there was no nearby convenience store. Over all awesome shopping experience!”

“The area around HBS is actually hard to find a cheap lunch option. Not just because of the increased inflation, but if you don't want a sandwich. It hard to find a variety. Spangler offered a full tans of food varieties all being fresh. My office just moved closer to Spangler and sometime I just want a quick soup n salad. They have a hot bar that offers cuisines from around the world which makes for a nice change. The staff is so kind and helpful. Peak lunch time can be crowded so plan accordingly.”
