“The rating is PURELY for the Employees!!!
Proceed with Extreme Caution!! Set your tandems forward for tighter front end maneuvers but watch that swing.
If possible take Route 2A/Massachusetts Ave South then Turn Left onto State St. to stage.
(I was routed North on 2A so I made the Right turn onto State, it’s tight, swing wide and watch the U-Haul trucks parked on left of street. State is one way so use it all) ‘supposed’ to park on left but there was no room. I squeezed on the right and hopped out, because at end of building on the wall is a blue light (see pictures it’s circled) where there is a door and call box. Let them know you are here, a guy will tell you what to do. Basically you stay there until someone tells you to go up to Main st where 2 docks are. You will proceed up State and take a Left onto Windsor, you MUST use that corner lot can’t make the turn any other way. Watch for traffic, parked cars on right of Windsor infront of you and the last electric pole on the left, your trailer will come close. Then make Left onto Main. They guys will help direct you like in pictures, they will open your doors and stop traffic at your rear. You have to watch cyclists (lots) walkers, and idiot people who WILL try to go around you. Once you’re in the door slide tandems back. They will do the rest.”
“Nice little shop. Friendly and dedicated staff. Shop was quite busy when we arrived there. Yet they make sure we got to try a sample before we left. It was delicious and made my day!”
“Great selection, reasonable pricing. Large section of sugar free treats. You're never rushed picking candy for gift boxes. The woman helping me was so pleasant and kind.”
“Love this store. Their nut section is amazing as well as their service. They also have great specialty chocolates that are great gifts. Even some vegan options. Highly recommend.”
“Taylor David and Bobby were extremely nice gave us free candy and played games with us if you are looking for a good candy store come here must recommend 5 stars”
“Excellent selection and great staff! Our first time here and we were thrilled with the variety of wines from different countries. The French and Italian wines are great, and we really enjoyed taking to the staff about wine. Rob was awesome! Thank you!”
“They moved to a different location within Market St. They're across from the Barnes & Noble, California Pizza Kitchen area. Much bigger now! They needed the space if you ask me!”
“If you’re anywhere near Newbury Street and even remotely a chocolate lover, you owe it to yourself to stop by ROYCE’ Chocolate. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with that signature ROYCE’ aroma — rich, creamy, and dangerously inviting. The staff here are warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help you find your perfect treat.
I ended up picking their Walnut Chocolate Wafers, and wow… these are on another level. Light, crisp wafers with perfectly balanced layers of chocolate and the subtle crunch of walnut — not too sweet, not too heavy, just absolutely addictive. I planned to save some for later, but let’s just say that didn’t happen.
Fun Fact: ROYCE’ originated in Hokkaido, Japan — a region known for its exceptional dairy. That’s one of the secrets behind their famously silky chocolates!
Whether you’re gifting, exploring Japanese sweets for the first time, or treating yourself “just because,” this shop is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back to try more!”
“I told my wife and kids that I would take them somewhere special but I didn't reveal where until that day. When I finally told them where we were going, a candy factory, they looked at me like "???" wait what. I told them I know a few people ? LOL..
The last time I saw Sean at the barbershop, I asked him if I could stop by his family business and show my kids. He said absolutely bring them on by. Well let me tell you, we went to the most amazing place, Brian Smillie Candy. We are friends so we were able to get a guided tour by Sean the son of Brian, owner of the factory. Just want to throw that out there so you are not expecting a tour as well ?
Recently opened to the public so if you have to make a candy bar for party or something this is the place you want to go! All products sold by the pound, minimum of 5lbs. This place has candy I haven't seen since I was a kid. Things like Cow Tales, Lemonheads, Laffy Taffy's, FunDip's and gumballs like the ones I used to get out of a machine. This is just to name a few but they have options for days. They have these gummy lobsters, cows and pigs that they are well known for. This is a must get. They are perfect in my opinion, not too hard or too chewy and sweetness was just right.
We really enjoyed walking around and looking at everything and learning all the history about the place and products, Brian was very informative and patient with all 4 of us. Definitely repeat business for me. And I will let all my friends, family and clients know where to go to get wholesale candy products.
And finally, thanks again to Brian and his family. We appreciate the time you spent with us!
Check out my pictures and short video. Enjoy!”
“Perfect place to get a gift. I paid $65 for a pound of truffles and a bouquet of chocolate roses, which is less than I expected to, and they wrapped them up nice with tissue paper and ribbons. Staff were very friendly”
“I wanted to send McCrea's Advent calendar filled with candies to my daughter. It was recommended in the New York Times in October, and I was afraid they might run out, but it was way too early to send the calendar. I contacted the company, and a wonderful, kind sales rep replied promptly and said I could pay for it then, and she would hold the calendar until right before Advent started. She was true to her word, and my daughter loves the candies!
Then I noticed that my credit card showed a higher amount than the invoice I had received. I contacted the woman again, and she passed me on to the shipping manager. She also replied quickly and said it was a shipping charge, but she refunded it. She said that the company had changed the threshold at some point in the season to offer free shipping for Advents. HadI ordered later in the season there would have been no shipping charge, and she thought I shouldn’t be punished for ordering early!
Delicious candy and excellent customer service!!”
“The hostess wasn't professional. The restaurant was dirty. We sat and watched one of the busgirl's wipe the crumbs off the table onto the floor, then she barely wiped the seat off, it still had crumbs on it. The floor was dirty every where. The wait for our food was a bit long also. Our server was great though. I've never visited this location, but I probably won't be back.”
“If you are looking for any type of nut or candy, here you are to find what you're looking for. It's not the same as when it was on West Broadway in South Boston with the display cases and penny candy display. All the selections are there. I was looking for Brazil nuts. the salesman went in the back and the employee fired up the oven and roasted the nut right then and there. While waiting, I selected some Plantain chips, dark chocolate chips, pistachios, and a half pound of non-perells. A great place to go when you're looking for the right ingredients.”
“This was my first time in a sugarfina and Robbie helped me find some candy with such a welcoming and energetic demeanor. I ended up getting the Italian spritz candy, which is a perfect treat for summer. I will highly recommend this store to friends, family, and clients from work.”
“I don’t currently have any pictures to show but I LOVE this place! I got my hands on some really good spreads from here, like a Chocolate Hazelnut spread (with Hazelnut as the first ingredient !!!) and a Matcha Milk Jam — they go so well with crepes. I’m coming back here tomorrow since I finished both jars and I can’t find them anywhere else”
