Yesterday I stopped into ECSB in Cambridge for something and unfortunately they weren't able to help me but Marie Singh went out of her way to find another local bank that could and she even set up an appointment with them for me. She is always so helpfully and makes you feel like family. She is an absolute asset to the bank. Thank you again Marie!

Not a good bank. In the years since I've been with them there have been numerous problems. Whether it's bad customer service, freezing my account when I travel ANYWHERE (including Canada and other states), not working at airport atm's, etc....Last Friday May 26th I had a horrible experience at their Highland Ave. location. Tianna one of their tellers was smugly cruel in her repetitions of meaningless corporate speech. When I wanted to speak to a manager she brought one over and told him I wanted to complain about her in such a smug self satisfied way that made it clear there were going to be no repercussions for her behavior.The issue in question was trying to withdraw $40 from my account because the atm wasn't working. I did not have ID on me, I did have my SS card and my bank card on me. I could've told her my pin or my online banking info (she didn't ask), instead she told me that she didn't feel comfortable giving me money, she said my signature didn't match (which is insane because it's the same signature). She told me that I could simply wait until the atm was fixed.It wasn't the fact that she refused my request based on bogus claims. It was the way she spoke to me, the way she made it clear that she had nothing but contempt for me and was laughing at my distress.I left the bank, called my husband and proceeded to start crying.In the time since I've gone ahead and opened an account with a different bank. Once my new bank card arrives, I will be closing my account with ecsb.

I have used this bank for over 30 years. My parents used it, my siblings use it, and many friends use it. I have always been treated with courtesy. I love the on line banking (just wish I could transfer from my passbook savings to my checking), and on the rare occasions that I have had to contact the call center, they've always been very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend ECSB.

Let me first start by saying, this is only the second Google review ever written by me but I really wanted to add my two cents here. I opened an account with ECSB recently only because the business for which I was working used them & thought it would be easier to set up direct deposit. The woman with whom I dealt in the Medford branch(I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember her name)was awesome & treated me as though I was depositing six figures, which unfortunately wasn't the case. To be honest, I'm probably a customer that cost them money to have but you definitely wouldn't think it whenever I go in there(I use the Woburn branch now). I'm sure the "unflattering" Google reviews on here aren't fabricated but they definitely don't warrant one from me.

I've been using the ATMs at East Cambridge savings bank for years. They recently updated their ATMs that no longer accept deposits.

Customer service is not good. Teller deposited checks to wrong account? Hope you have lots of patience and spare time and no day job because this will take time to fix, and a lot of repetition. Some ATMs don't take deposits. The drive up ATMs are too far from the drive up but you can get out and use them unless you're making a deposit. Sheesh.

It was a question for us how would this bank hire people who are outright rude and talk to clients condescending when they're the ones who don't have the real knowledge and experience on finance.

Truly one of the worse banks you could ever do business with. They'll promise you the moon and deliver ....... NOTHING! Do yourself a big favor. Go elsewhere!

I’ve been in business for 45 years I have never dealt with a more professional bank and I’ve dealt with them all. They are always polite they are always professional anytime I’ve had a problem, and the problems have always been just a misunderstanding by them sometimes or by me usually.I know it’s easy to hate Banks, There are quite a few I don’t like but If your looking for a professional bank you should check this one out

I'm not sure why there are low reviews. I got great help from both the Online Supervisor Jeffery Shapiro and from the Main in branch associate Shannon. I had a great experience opening up the CD, and was told of more products that we will consider for the future. They were respectful and professional. Maybe there has been a change at ECSB and you should try for yourself like I did.

ECSB has been the banker for our small business since 2015. They took a chance on us when bigger banks turned up their noses, and have stuck with us through the Covid-19 pandemic (which has crushed so many small businesses). Their staff is professional, courteous and respectful of the real-world needs of small businesses. If you own a business, and are looking for a partner vs. a big institution who is more intent on collecting fees vs. helping their customers, give ECSB a look.
