“Meant to write this a while ago. I love Daddario. Great local mom and pop hardware store. It's the perfect place to quickly grab a few things for your household needs. The customer service is amazing, they always ask to help you find something immediately when you walk in, which makes it a very quick stop. I don't think I have ever spent more than 2-3 minutes in the store. Always incredibly friendly, prices are fair, and they are always super nice to my son (they gave him candy last time which made his day and now he wants to go back all the time haha)”

A woman with a cool Irish accent was so patient and kind with me on the phone while I asked her to look up several different sku # to see what they had in stock. When I arrived, the same woman, Rachel, was just as kind, patient and thorough in person as she was on the phone. Jess, the woman who rang me up, was super friendly and kind. She engaged with my 6 month old son who I was carrying and made him smile. When Rachel and Brian were loading my purchases onto my trailer, Brian and I engaged about the device he used to bring the toolboxes outside, he was also kind and friendly. I had a wonderful experience with this purchase, and it was also my birthday, which made the experience even better! I'd make this my go to HFT if it wasn't so far from my home. The battery in my car fob died, and I couldn’t start the car. Justin at Rocky’s Ace Hardware located the correct battery, and opened the fob and replaced it for me. It wasn’t that easy to maneuver the fob to get it open, and then figure out how to release the battery. I’m so grateful to Justin and all the employees at Rockys!!”

“While the Watertown store is so much closer for me, it is chaotic in there and West Roxbury is often the same. Since I was in Natick anyhow, I stopped in on a weekday around 10am to get one of those mesh screen door things that you walk through (it actually works, not bad for $15). Masks and sanitizer at the front door for anyone who needs/wants it, and I wandered around looking for the item (for whatever reason, the aisle/bin number wasn't online). After I gave up wandering, I flagged down Bruno who found it for me (thanks Bruno!) and headed to the self checkout. Only negative to the in-store experience was the woman in charge of this area: having someone who is friendly would be a bonus. I can't imagine the parking lot on weekends, so go on a weekday if you can (or right when they open on Saturday and Sunday). The entrance/exit onto Speen St has a traffic light and the Route 30 exit is right-turn only (unless you want to just take a left anyhow). HD stores are dog-friendly as well!!”

“I called Newton Decorative Hardware looking for a part for an Emek lock. The gentleman on the phone said while he couldn’t be sure he had the exact item, he said come on in and he’d find me something that would work. When I got to the shop, the same gentleman found the part I was looking for in a box of spares, handed it to me, and sent me on my way without charging me a cent.While I doubt they can give away items for free on a regular basis, this type of treatment shows a level of customer service rarely seen any more.I will definitely shop at Newton Decorative Hardware in the future!”

“When we bought our beautiful family home many years ago we thought it was perfect. Inside it really was perfect but our elementary school aged kids informed us that all of their friends, including our neighbors, had pools and better yards for playing. They begged for a pool, but my wife was hesitant because she wanted a beautiful yard and thought that pools were ugly. I was only concerned about expenses but for my daughter's12th birthday I told her would we put in a pool. My wife was not happy because she thought it would make the yard look stark and bare with too much cement and not enough space to grow flowers or relax. I hired a contractor but wanted a good deal on supplies so I called Sam White and Sons in Newton and spoke to an expert who helped design and find materials for a perfectly beautiful yard that my whole family could love and enjoy.Since then we have been going back on a regular basis to update the property and add to the beauty and pleasant atmosphere. We put in some more garden spaces for plants and flowers, a firepit, an additional patio, an outdoor kitchen thing, and lots of nice rockwork. I eventually had the pool redone which made my wife very happy and helped up the value of our home. Every time we go in to Sam White and Sons the service is great and all their employees seem to be experts at giving great advice. So many tips and ideas!I very much appreciate that it is still a family owned company. I see many of the same employees in the twenty something years I have been going there which gives me great confidence in how they run the business. So much depends upon good employee management, doesn't it? The employees there always seem happy and ready to help which makes me think they like their jobs and are treated very well. This translates directly to good customer service. I have read some sad bad reviews here and do not agree at all with the people who wrote them. I think that some people do not understand how this sort of business works and they expect things that are not really a part of the business model. I remember Sam White and respect him and his family for what they have created.”
“We needed playground wood chips for our back yard. Called Sam White & Sons in Medfield and were able to schedule a delivery within a few days. I ordered 5 yards and that was a bit too much (the guy on the phone estimated 10-14 yards, that would be enough for a whole school playground...)The truck driver was excellent, managed to maneuver the truck thru our driveway (somewhat narrow with overhanging tree limbs) into our back yard. He was professional, kind and friendly.We bought what they call "certified playground wood chips", but I was disappointed because a lot of it is thin sawdust, the fine fibers get into your nose and throat even when the material is wet, you need to wear a mask when spreading it around. I doubt it will last more than a couple of years. My advice is to order the coarse wood chips, I think that's the stuff you see at school playgrounds, larger chips, less fine dust.Overall- they grossly overestimated the quantity we needed, and the material they recommended was not the best for our needs. But still- great service, fair prices, recommended!”
