Camelot Kennels is nothing short of a miracle for our big German Shepherd, CJ.

CJ is an 85+ lb, tall, and seriously intimidating-looking boy with almost zero prior socialization. To most people he looks downright scary, but inside he’s a nervous wreck who spent months living in the woods and afraid of everything. (We rescued him) We were dreading the idea of leaving him anywhere—especially for our upcoming one-week vacation—so we started daycare twice a week as a trial run. Best decision we’ve ever made.

From the very first drop-off the staff completely blew us away. They’re warm, polite, professional, and you can tell they genuinely love animals. They saw right through CJ’s imposing size and tough exterior, read his anxious signals perfectly, and took him on like it was no big deal. They never pushed him, gave him space when he needed it, and slowly showed him the world can actually be fun.

Now when we pull up he’s dragging us to the door, tail wagging like crazy, and doesn’t even look back when we leave—something I never thought I’d see from my nervous boy. We love everything about Camelot:

• Private suites with their own little yards (perfect for a big, sensitive guy who sometimes needs a break)

• Literally 100+ photos posted every single day so we can watch CJ play, and enjoy himself

• Huge, clean play areas and all the flexible options tailored to each dog’s personality

Thanks to Camelot’s patience and skill, our once shut-down, intimidating shepherd now has dog friends, adores his handlers, and genuinely loves going to “school.” We just dropped him off for his first week-long boarding stay while we’re on vacation, and for the first time ever we’re completely relaxed and happy knowing he’s in the best hands possible.

CJ is a big deal in our world (and apparently looks like one to everyone else), but Camelot treats him like the gentle giant he truly is. We’re customers for life.
