“Premium quality Mediterranean market with a nice selection of prepared foods, refrigerated and frozen items, olives, olive oil, pastas, breads, cheeses, spices, fine wines and desserts. Convenient parking next to the store and physically handicapped accessible (ramp). A wonderful complementary market to nearby Bahnan’s (that is more focused on Middle Eastern foods).”
“I love this place
Update: Wanted to thank Carl in the grill area for some very tasty grinders! He was very fast and efficient, and read my order back to me. Kudos”
“Excellent place to buy organic and healthier foods, cheaper than other markets and have enough variety of foods
Furthermore, their staff is always friendly and very cordial.”
“UPDATE: Ordered my other son’s cake and cupcakes to celebrate his first birthday this past weekend. Enjoyed every bite!
Huge Market Basket fans in general. Shrewsbury store in particular has the best bakery ever! Jill was amazing with creating my son’s custom birthday cake and cupcakes. From order to pick up, process was seamless. Everyone complimented how awesome the cake looked and how great everything tasted. Will definitely order from here again!”
“Lots of choices of authentic polish specialties. Many fresh made items including breads and pastries. English seems to be a second language for many staff, but we worked it out. Store was very crowded with customers, but everyone was polite, patient and waited their turn at the counter.”
“This store is absolutely one of the cleanest grocery store! I mainly drop in for the freshly made soups and chili/especially the chili. The selections for ready made dinners are fantastic with a large variety to chose. I never do a complete shop there because it's out of my price range. But the chili and soups are Mmmm! and I never had a bad ready made meal. So Thank you cleaning staff and the entire work force...you folks are on the ball?”
“Awesome place, owner is a great guy and they have a larger variety ranging from Spanish foods to toiletries. If you need anything chances are they have it! Hours are convenient for people who need to get something early or grab something late u forgot!. And they are still open Incase the previous reviewer made an honest mistake . They are still right on Belmont st Worceste, just names changes to three Js”
“Always can find parking and product that I need. Their meat selection is pretty much unrivaled..... except at maybe a butcher's shop. Pretty much the only downside is that their door dash pricing is a little too expensive.”
“Patel Bros. markets are among the best stocked Indian food shopping venues in the region. The Shrewsbury location is excellent for its comprehensive offering of different varieties of rice, fresh vegetables, canned and dry goods, spices, nuts, refrigerated items (yogurt, Indian cheese, other dairy, etc.) and frozen foods. Have been shopping here for over a decade. Ample parking (lot off of Rt. 9) and more limited parking directly in front of the store.”
“Mashallah. Small but full of the best goodies from Iraq and other Arab countries including tea sets and Jordanian soap. Produce of top choice to give your dinner the authentic taste of "back home" flavors. Halal items as well.”
“There's a lot of good reviews but most of these reviews are not from legit common sense people. I've been buying things from here for 2 years now and what I noticed quite frequently is the produce not being up to par. Some oranges were moldy. That's dangerous and could really kill someone. Also the hot food section is very hit or miss. Always be careful. Let's note some of the food that's displayed on the premade food cold fridge , are dated 4 days from when they were made. So freshness isn't always a plus here at this family owned business. Now im pointing out vital things that they need to appropriately take action on. People could get sick from the lack of ambition these workers put into the store. Sure they can vacuum and sweep. But that should be the last thing to do for the day and not ignore moldy produce and expired food with wrong dates. Ok. Here's another legit thing. Everything that's not store related is hella expensive. And I mean 3 TIMES MORE expensive. For example. A box of cheez it's here is over 5 dollars. At Walmart it's less than 2.79 for a large box.
Here's another example. White castle burgers 8.19 for 6. Walmart it's 5.79
Another example Kimmy Dean breakfast bowls 5 dollars after tax ??? Walmart it's 2.59
Ok... Chips in general over 6 to 7 dollars and raos sauce ECT very expensive almost 13 dollars.
This is not a good look considering other markers are selling the same product for 3 times less. I would not recommend shopping a full cart here unless your a rich trust fund baby or a rich Democrat who feeds off of inflation while watching the hard working blue collars dish out tons of money just to fit in with the rich town society. Yeah yeah yeah. Sorry I'm not the type of guy who accepts hand outs and lives lavish. I actually point out the things that are wrong with businesses that others completely purposely ignore. Like I said these 5 star reviews are from people who are blind Litterly. They are too scared to speak on the truth about things In life.
Lets note one more thing. The meat is good. Probably better than most butchers. Why? Well you can see there is very kind older guys who have experience with butchering.
Another thing Some of the younger people are awkward and they make you feel awkward you can sense the depression off of them. I always sense energy and some of the people there have very negative energy....
Smile more maybe you'll go farther in life and bring your energy up, maybe some people are sad because they fail at having motivation to do a simple job.”
“The best store in Worcester , they have real Ghanaian corn dough and his prices are great, very humble owner, excellent customer service and clean store, with lots of African foods to choose from”
“Well, where do we start? Downtown Worcester has had a decreasing number of options for grocery shopping. This is true especially for those with limited budget. There is one good steadfast exception however, and that is Gala Foods. This is a nice little market that ticks many boxes. It's proximity to both Downtown as well as other peripheral neighborhoods. It's also very affordable and offers many options for a range of shoppers. The fresh food section is excellent and has options you won't find in those main stream stores that aren't so close by. This makes Gala a win for Worcester and it's diverse residents.”
“THEY HAVE KNORR?
THEY HAVE KNORR.
THEY HAVE KNORR!
USE THE CORRECT SEASONING OR DON'T. ITS YOUR CHOICE.
FUIYOH!”
“I have been going to the store for years since the first day it opened the owners, and the staff have always been wonderful and helpful ,friendly they are a staple in that neighborhood. I have since moved from the neighborhood, but I still make it a point to go there.”
“Fresh produce and all pastries are baked in store. Cakes, cupcakes. Puff pastries, fruit bites, cinnamon rolls, bagels on Sunday, large muffins. Freshly baked bread”
“I had given Wegmans N'boro 5 stars, but since they changed how they "serve" coffee & b'fast sandwiches I gave it 4 ... but really mean 3.5.”
“Love the store. Love the selection. However, I didn't realize self checkout did not take cash and the employee working the area was EXTREMELY RUDE. If actually doing your job is that difficult, maybe she shouldn't work there.”
“The “mostly woman” and Eric at Hannafords Pharmacy have been great for years! Have provided superior service to that of CVS since I started using them many years ago.”
“I travel an hour and 20 mins just to come shop fresh and quality stuffs here. Owner is very friendly and helpful. I get everything I need from this store! don’t go anywhere choose Kumasi.”

“This store was better than I expected. I have visited the Goldstar Blvd location and was less than impressed there. The staff were helpful and pleasant with finding things I was looking for and found someone who could understand me better when it was needed. They didn't have everything I was looking for though. Their prices were pretty good. You will need your own bags or pay for theirs. The self check out noticed the weight of my empty bags when I put them down while paying. The store was nicer looking inside than I was expecting and well stocked with what they did have.”
“ANDIE AND JEFF ARE THE BEST OF THE GREAT PEOPLE THAT I KNOW FOR LONG TIME AND ALSO THE GREAT FOOD THEY'VE DONE IT IS FRESH AND REALLY GOOD TO EAT. PROBABLY HERE FOR A WHILE AND PUBLIC HEALTH IS VERY GREAT THAT PEOPLE GO THERE MUST OF A TIME.”
“Love the convenience of this store, most of the employees are super helpful , but there are a few annoyances, the deli is super slow and closed on most days around 7pm, they have a great selection of products , but go in on a Monday and you will find most popular items not stocked , and last at all costs avoid the self checkouts, the attendant will hover over you and watch every move ,and they are not discrete about it, it’s less pressure just go to a regular checkout . I feel that with a few changes this could be a 5star store.”
“Best Supermarket doesn't even begin to come even remotely close to this place. They are the hands down, single greatest supermarket that has ever and will ever exist in all of humankind's existence on this doomed rock we call home. Pack it up humanity, as we have peaked. We've climbed the highest mountain, dove the deepest seas, this is the pinnacle of human evolution.”
“Totally disagree with a previous commenter. Yes Market 32 tends to be more expensive but Market Basket does NOT always have what you need which is why I go there less and less. But I will say this about Market 32 you need to get a BELL in the Seafood Department because people are in the back and they don't know you're there and you could be waiting there for them for who knows how long. I feel stupid yelling for them and really shouldn't have to.”
