“I love comics and this place is by far one of the best place to go in the Bloomfield area. The manager that's there usually is very friendly and professional. And very helpful. It's a rare quality that most retail stores should take note. When you go into an establishment it is okay to have friendly conversation with their customers. She's always warm and friendly to me when I go in there.”

“My new favorite bookstore. It looks small, but this is definitely a case of "it's bigger on the inside!" Shelves are tall and every square inch is used. The book selection is excellent. There's no chaff or filler anywhere. I have found things at Toadvine that I have literally been seeking for years, not to mention a lot of amazing things I didn't know existed. There are some fascinating rare books in the cases up front, and in the back room is a great selection of YA / children's books and graphic novels. The graphic novel selection includes classics and important works by creators from around the world. The staff is always helpful and welcoming and are great to talk to about books!Prices are quite reasonable. Toadvine also buys books and gives fair trade value for things.Perhaps best of all, Toadvine cares about, and supports, local authors. There are comics and novels by local writers, book editions from local publishers, and they also host author events in the back room. This place is a treasure, so go check it out!”

“I loved my visit to this bookstore. Little they may be, but they are not lacking in selection! So many amazing books! Also, their children's section offered a ton of variety. I loved their window book displays and the book displays inside. While listening to the employees banter as I was picking out books, I couldn't help but laugh to myself. These are my kind of people. The atmosphere was great.”

“I used to love this bookstore when I was a young teenager. I am no longer in the area and I haven't been there in a long time, but I'm glad to see that it is still open. It used to have so many cool books that you wouldn't find other places, and the atmosphere was always so welcoming. Five stars, I hope I can come back one day.”

“I got a book that was printed entirely upside down, even the cover. When I took it back the clerk kindly pointed out that I was holding it wrong. Boy did I feel stupid! Not sure what the printing press in the window is for. Do they make some of the books they sell? All in all, an interesting store with a nicely curated collection of books. None of the junk stuff you find at other resale shops.”

“I sent an inquiry email looking for six different book titles and David promptly emailed me back that he had all six. I gave him a call and paid via credit card. He was very polite and professional over the phone. He reassured me that the transaction was secure and that he would ship the books out right away. I received them today, only a few days later, very impressed with how well he carefully packed the books, wrapping them in plastic, placing them in many packing peanuts, and putting them in a well-taped box. I'm very happy with my transaction and will be emailing or calling David back if I ever need any more hard-to-find books.”

“I started going to this location after the Rochester Rd location closed. This location can feel a bit congested, especially on weekends. However, it’s nice to see how many people still enjoy shopping at bookstores! Gabrielle was very helpful and checked in the back when they didn’t have a book I was looking for. She offered to order it for me and made suggestions to other books I might like. Great customer service!”

“Tbh the fact that I got lost looking for this place I wanted to rate it lower lol but I won’t do that. The store is in building J which is behind building G. Once you pull into the college at the second stop sign you make a right, take that loop all the way to the end and you’ll see two buildings and a parking lot. It’s behind the building on the left side. The store itself has a nice selection of supplies that’s easy to find and a good amount of school merch. The cashier was really nice when assisting me. And helpful with answering my questions. It was my first time at this campus and gps is not clear at all about where building j is and inside I had to search for the bkstr on my own there was no faculty. Just I bunch of what looked like 9th graders. Trying to get through all those kids kind of made it difficult to search for the bookstore but I’d go back here definitely. I like there supplies”

“2nd & Charles is a bibliophile's paradise! If you're looking to make money from your trade-ins, this might not be your best option. As other reviewers have notes, staff do not individually access items, and the cash value is generally half (or less) what you can get in storre credit. While the trade-in value for cash might not be the best, it's a minor quibble considering the treasure trove of delights the store offers. As a general rule, I'm cool with taking the store credit option because I can always find something I like. If you come on certain days, you can stretch your dollar even further via discounts and BOGO specials. From adorable plushies and action figures to unique calendars and notebooks, there's something for every pop culture enthusiast. The constantly changing inventory, thanks to their buy-back program, makes each visit a delightful surprise. My tip: bring your own reusable bag cart away all your treasures! Otherwise you will need to purchase one (or carry it home in your hands, you've got options here).”
