“Went to this store yesterday for the first time!!!! I arrived at the store and did not realize it was appointment only that day. But, the store owner, Nicloe, was able to be there rapidly after me making the appointment to open the store for me! I 100% would recommend to any social worker or therapist!! I just accepted my first social work job, and the owner was able to provide SO much info/help with recommendations of tools, connecting me to resources and workshops such as the MASSW, and was able to answer all of the questions I had. LARGE PLUS, was the fact that you are able to open, and look in depth, at anything in the store to ensure you are spending your money on things you want! Owner also mentioned she schedules zoom appointments/ consultations for you to tell her what types of topics you are looking for tools for and she will start a pile of recommendations for you and you can come in to check them out at your convenience! I will definitely be wanting to make the drive out here many more times despite the fact I am a half hour away! SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE!!!!! 5 stars is truly not enough!”

“Toadvine is, without a doubt, my wife’s and my absolute favorite literary sanctuary. It might not be the biggest shop, but it is absolutely packed to the rafters with a staggering wealth of fantasy novels and vintage treasures.

I could easily spend hours getting lost in its cozy rows, completely losing track of time much like the hours spent immersed in the pages of our favorite worlds. Finding this place feels like discovering a secret, perfectly preserved wing of the Great Library. A truly magical little spot!

Tip: Every single shelf is a treasure trove—you might just find a hidden gem that looks like it was cataloged by Astinus himself.”

“Used a Barnes and Noble gift card to purchase a few books. The store was neat and well organized with easy to follow signage. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Staff mentioned the rewards program but were not overly aggressive about selling a membership. Plenty of parking and a great magazine section. A wonderful space for book browsing and buying.”

“This is my 2nd time stopping by I couldn't find "the glasses" for my husband and I. They just happened to be giving them away. I was informed by a young lady at the bank. We got our free glasses but I popped in to get my daughter a puzzle and grabbed a book. It's super cute.”

“Any chance I can get to go to Books A Million? I will in a heartbeat over Barnes & Noble. The unfortunate thing about Books A Million is that they’re so spread apart.”

“Absolutely loved this place! Great curated selection of books across genres; loved that they highlight marginalized authors, as well. Fantastic selection of stickers, journals, pens, bookmarks, and blind dates with a book... No notes on the vibes, can't wait to return!”

“So it's my partners birthday, and he's a huge Anne Rice fan. Hmmm, I thought. So I googled and this site came up with a 1st edition of Interview of a Vampire. WOW !!! Okay, so that's great. But the story just began. I called. Yes the book was available. It turned out that owner was chatting with me. What a great person - kind, friendly, and so into his books. I mentioned my short time frame - birthday and all. He assured me no problem. I got a lot of emails confirming the status, and arrival, and it even came ahead of plan. This is a shop we should all support. Books are so important in a digital world. Thanks for all the help. I give my partner the book tomorrow and can't wait to see his smile!”

“I live in Lansing and I came down to Detroit for the weekend and I had a blast at Mama Nandi’s spot. I received all the vibes and it was a mature crowd. I never got vibes, knowledge, and culture all in one spot so I’m giving this place a 10/10. As for the owner, very beautiful soul.”

“Great collection of books. And I don't know her name, but she's your employee who writes horror. Cute girl with the Goth vibes, pretty eyes, and shy smile. I'm a writer, myself, and I enjoyed spending my time talking to her.”

“I went in with a friend last week and loved this place. I could have talked with Rich all day. I bought a couple of books on his recommendation and was not disappointed. I'm hoping to do some trade in the near future. Thanks Rich!

Update: Went to a small music event on Sunday Nov 9th at Lo& Behold, Rich did a set (acoustic) and so did a few others before the Plainsmen played.

Great night, good music, good people.

Rich please consider doing more of these events.”

“This Barnes & Noble is located on the Wayne state university campus. As expected in Midtown the parking is street parking. Upon entering the building there is a separate café that is different from the Starbucks café. There is a lot of Wayne State merch. Office supplies were largely marked up. I came mostly for the Barnes & Noble aspect, I was disappointed in the limited selection of books- only 5 to 6 rows of books that were mostly geared towards young adult and fiction. The Starbucks city area was quite large with many students studying it hanging out. I would consider this location if you're already in the area and need a place to get Coffee or do work, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to check this place out unless you really need to for the bookstore.”
